Hi, newbie here so bear with me on this one - and before anybody says it i've searched through the forum and can't find the answer.

I've got a 58 plate Cooper D with Halogen Headlights, but it'd like to upgrade to the xenon oem headlights.

Now after much searching and looking through forums and classified ads i managed to acquire a N/S/F OEM Xenon Headlamp.

Now the interesting bit is the wiring harness fine on the Xenon lamp straight over from the Halogen but it doesn't fire. So after some checking i found that the Xenon lamp has 3 large spade connectors and my Halogen only has 2, pictures will follow.

I need to investigate further as a friend at work has a cooper sd with xenon headlights so i just need to see what color wires go the harness clip and then get a full wiring diagram.

I've already read about having sensors for adjusters etc but my halogens already have headlamp adjusters so i'm sure all it requires it 2nd line of power.

If anybody out there already has been down this road and can help me please pm me.

Thanks again

Duncan

Making connections isn't the only issue. There are three others:
- xenons require automatic levelling, while you have 'manual' levelling for your halogens;
- for xenon levelling, the Mini requires front and rear suspension movement sensors shown below (plus the wiring between these and the headlights that you probably don't have);
- xenons require headlight washers - you have the jets but not the pump and tank, nor the coding to tell the headlamp pump to work when the screen pump works.

Those 'requires' are legal requirements that can/should be included in the MoT test. You need to decide whether to just take the chance that your tester won't notice you have xenon lights without this kit.

No doubt there are some out there that will just swop back to halogen units for the MOT, bit like someone I once knew, he had tyres for the MOT and tyres that he used normally, the normal ones werent up to much!!
