Ayup, do you have to use runflats on a 2002 mini cooper as I seem to hear different stories from people I have spoken to, cheers

Put what tyres you want on your rims as long as they are the correct tyre size as recommended by mini .

Some are having trouble with tire installers who refuse to install anything different than what was originally fitted and sometimes check to see if you have a spare before they install non-runflats.
If you run into this problem, simply shop around until you find someone reasonable to install what you want to install.
This is usually only a probem with MINI Cooper S, since it came with runflats due to not having room for a spare.

I took mine off runflats last week for Falken ZE912's. It's a totally different car & the single best decision I ever made with the mini.

Is there any resale value in used tyres? I want to ditch the run flats desperately and they've only done about 500km.

There is, especially for those who lease.

Could you be more specific? I have runflats and the car is like a tank on the road, I feel every bump, hole, road... without run flats the driving improve dramaticaly?

Yes. Take them off & the potholes disappear. The difference is massive. The car feels like a magic carpet compared to a wooden cart on runflats. They are truly awful, awful tyres.

When the wife needed new tires on her car we opted not to put back on run flats. They were much more costly and not even avail locally.

Get shut of them. I don't have them on my MCS. I have 18s do I dread to think how bad they'd feel on run flats. I have a mate who gave another mate a lift somewhere and got a puncture on the way. The one that got the lift unfortunately now feels a bit obliged to pay the the nice new Pirelli euphoria that cost 170 quid for 205/45/17! I'm getting tyres for nearly 100 notes less each than the run flat equivalent for my size wheel. just
make sure you have a couple of cans of tyre weld in the boot!

i had run flats on my clubman s and my r53 cooper s before that. i have standards on my cooper sd and the difference is amazing. not only is the ride much smoother but the car doesn't snatch slightly to the left under hard acceleration. the sd i test drove had run flats and the ride was as bad as my clubman. i got the guy to take me out in a cooper they had with standards and the difference was unreal.

Make sure youve got access to a spare then or some of the gunge stuff you pump in or you will be cursing when youre stuck at the roadside and its pouring down and freezing cold with the family onboard and your tyres as flat as a fart.
You could always screw a spare to the bonnet like a Land Rover ;)
