With no spare wheel, what's the point of carrying the jack around in the boot?

just in case you need to take a wheel off for any reason, eg brakes, suspension, steering, etc

Don't they also recommend you jack up the car to seal and reinflate the tyre after a puncture? It would seem to me to be likely to give the tyre sealant the best chance of working.

Plus you look like a top mate when your friend needs to change a tyre on their own car but doesn't have a jack with them... always good to be prepared. :D
