Hey all,
I got a k&n ari filter for my mini cooper s but it hasn't got one them heat protectors to keep the heat from the engine away from it, would it be a bad idea to use it with out it?.
I didn't no much about the supercharger works better with cold air when I got it about a year ago. So don't really Wana buy another one that come with this heat protector
Any suggestions would be grateful

got a pic ?, some of them have a metal box around them and kind of seal when the bonnet is closed

And yeah that metel box thing I don't have. Would the filter be okay without the box that keeps the heat away

I think if you use the filter without the heat shield you
can actually lose power!
Think it's due to the filter needing cold dense air for
optimum performance.

Great so no point putting it on :(
