Hi, newbie member from West Lothian in Scotland. The £120+ cost to fill my BMW 7 series tank with petrol and ongoing hefty running costs (£66.50 for wiper blades from BMW for example:angry:), led me to scratch my Mini itch a few weeks ago.
So, goodbye to my beloved 7 series and hello little Cooper S.
Obviously the 2 cars are like chalk and cheese, the 7 being a refined, superbly comfortable cruiser, and the Cooper S is the polar opposite. I'm absolutely loving the Mini, its great fun to thrash, a real pocket rocket, it reminds me very much of a Renault 5 Gt Turbo I used to own 25 years ago. Fantastic to buzz around town and slip into any parking space unlike the 7 series which was like parking a cruise liner! Economy is reasonable aswell giving me 31mpg on my short commute compared to 23mpg in the 7 series. I'm finding it to be a very addictive little car to drive and i find myself taking the long & twisty route home these days, just to get a chance to kick the Minis ar5e.
My only niggles are the squeaking dash which i believe is a common issue and I reckon I've found the cause and the absolutely horrendous runflats. Whoever in BMW management that decided runflats should be a standard fit to these cars should be pulled from his home and shot infront of their children, they really make the ride ridiculously harsh, (it makes my Westfield feel like a Rolls Royce) and must have lost Mini hundreds of potential car sales.
Those 2 niggles aside, its a fantastic little car and I'm glad I've finally scratched my Cooper S itch and look forward to making some little tweaks in the months to come.
