advice required

just sold my dream car due to high running costs (gutted) so next in line is my next dream car, a mini cabriolet :) ideally a cooper/cooper s (jcw not in my price range now)
need to know what to avoid/check on potential purchases, belts/chains (when and which on what model) common faults, any help muchly appreciated.
got couple id like to view, one being a cooper the other a cooper s so need to be armed with facts
