I do not want to lose my 6 disc cd changer in the boot either.
Just want to amplify and upgrade speakers , keeping orig HU because I don't want to lose the CD changer basically...

Yeah easy done. This is the setup I had on my R50:
- Alpine PDX amp in the boot behind the LHS panel (nicely hidden)
- Polk Competition speakers - 6x9 3 way coaxial splits with hi/mid/lo filters in the rear (fits in the standard holes) and either 6 or 5" woofers + tweeters with hi/lo filters in front standard holes.
- sound deadening inside the panels.
- sound level converters that connect to the speaker output from the factory HU to the amp (they reduce the output level to match what the amp expects as an input, otherwise you'll hear mega static from the HU being amplified big time. Sounds like it's raining.).
- standard cabling from the amp to the speakers

Thanks thats good to know,
any Idea how I can wire the amp to the HU? I know about routing the power cable and everything else I am just not sure on how to wire into a standard MINI HU? as I am used to aftermarket ones with the red and white RCAs .
Cheers
