hi, i have a 2006 mini cooper. Does anyone have any ideas to where my coolant is going from my expansion bottle i'm topping it up 2x a day only had the car two weeks surely this is not right. I have bleed the system from screw at the front left and heater pipes and got air from front left one are there any more if so where?

It is likely to be more air in system (Mini's are hard to bleed) or a slight leak on bottom corner(s) of radiator is very common or also from the thermostat housing.

does any one think it could be the rad cap, as the rubber looks past its sell by date i have had it on and off a couple of times and its been ok today. yesterday you could see air bubbles coming up though pipe.

Yes !.....change rad pressure cap if worn, it will leak and overheat if it fails to hold the pressure.

coolant has gone again:confused:angry: , the car has not been any where parked it up last night with a full expansion tank and its gone this morning with a wet patch under the car also when i started it up there was a bubbling sound coming from behind the dash about the same place as the expansion tank is located. i think there must be a leak when its cold allowing air in the system. does this sound right to anyone?

Yes, bubbling sound behind dash is air inside the heater matrix which gets in when the coolant level drops too far.
Place some cardboard underneath the engine area while parked overnight and try to pinpoint exactly where leak is coming from. Also check plastic expansion tank for cracks/leaks, the plastic can go brittle and leak from any seams.
Be careful of any overheating or you could blow the head gasket......

Once they cure the thermostat leak (later parts are improved) make sure they bleed out all the air carefully from the system and keep a close eye on the level for a few days as it sometimes drops for a while after, until all air has worked its way out and things stabilise.

picked it up today got it home and re-bleed the system and got air out i will give it another go tomorrow, also put it in test mode for the temp and it now runs abit cooler from 89 to 93 even driving it quick, when i had the leak it was 93 to 97 and 102 when driving quickly.
