My Cooper S (2003) with 138,000 miles developed a oil leak.

Does it look serious?

Can't really tell from those pics, but it could be a number of things.

Thermostat, most likely, will need replacing.

One of the engine gaskets, could be an easy fix or could need replacing.

Nothing life threatening but could be a few $$$$

Bit difficult to tell from those, the position of the drip is not necessarily where the leak is, the oil will just run to the lowest point that side.

I cant see any leak from the top. Can it be the drip pan gasket?
