Hey Guys!

I've been on this forum for a few months now slowing getting up to my fifteen posts to allow me to upload pictures. I originally came on this forum to get a bit of information on Cooper S's as I was really keen on getting one, after a lot of thought I realised that I could buy, run and insure a Cooper S but if anything was to need fixing like the supercharger I would be in a bit of a pickle as I wouldn’t be able to afford to do that.

From testing driving several Cooper S's and realising I couldn't have one I was even more unhappy about my old car (Ford KA) as Mini's are amazingly built and I loved how they drive and look which made me think about another alternative.

I started to think about a Mini Cooper with quite a decent spec on it would be ideal for me as its a lovely upgrade from a KA and then I could slowly work my way up to a Cooper S. I started to make a list of what I wanted, but the main thing I wanted was xenon lights and the Chilli Pack.

I eventually found my perfect car, unfortunately it was a bit of a drive away as I live near Blackpool and the car was in Wilmslow (I hated motorways in my old car!) so I manned up and dragged my dad and boyfriend down with me to look at it and completely fell in love.

The car is a 2005 Cooper in Black Eyed Purple it has xenon headlights, chilli pack and upgraded 17" alloys, it's just a lovely car for me. So I left the deposit and picked it up in April.

Car has been perfect with only the odd things, had to get a new power steering pump as the other one was on its way out and making a really annoyingly loud whine constantly. Lucky when I bought the car it came with a three months RAC warranty so I managed to get that done with under that otherwise it would have set me back £500 :(. I need to get a new exhaust as it is corroding and was an advisory on my past MOT. Also it looks as though the owner before me had bumped the back bumper into another car that must have had a tow bar and had caught the front bumper, so need to get them resprayed at some point.

I have a few things that I'd like to do to the car but funds are a struggle for me as I’m a full time student and only have a part time job, plans are:

Aero grill,
clear side repeaters,
get the alloys powder coated in anthracite,
I'd like to wrap my roof and wing mirrors in grey or black.

That’s about it, I'll leave you a few pictures from when the boyfriend spent a day polishing it up, my only mod I've done is changed my front indicators to clear bulbs from the nasty orange ones, looks a lot better already just from that. I haven't taken any pictures of that at the moment only ones that are on my phone but I'll get some to put up soon :)

BEP has alays been one of my fave colours :)

Looks lovely with the chrome grille and white roof and mirrors, very shiny too, hope you supplied the polisher with plenty of tea?

Good list of planned mods, too. The first thing I was going to say was replace those side repeaters. :D

Also, BEP works brilliantly with anthracite-coloured wheels. There was a girl on here a few years ago who had hers done (on a BEP/W car) and they looked awesome. :cool:

Thank you! :) still has quite a few swirl marks and scratches and things, getting the boyf to get them out when he has a few days to spare :) and I love BEP I never really saw it before and I wanted a grey cooper until my boyfriend saw the purple and i instantly fell in love with it :) thanks again!

Oooo I'll see if I can find a thread or something on BEP with anthracite! My boyfriend got some 172 wheels when he had his Clio and got them done it that colour and loved them! Just got to get saving :)

No way! I'm pretty sure the girl I'm thinking of posted some pics of her MINI alongside her boyfriend's Clio 172 (possibly 182?) - silver coloured, in Cup spec I think? I will try and dig out the thread, but that's a fair ol' coincidence! :D

Your memory is amazing! Paul just had a 1.6 clio, he really wants a 182 :)

Thank you! My boyfriend worked really hard to get it how it is at the moment, the paintwork needed some TLC, didn't seem to be well looked after from the previous owners. Need my bumpers fixing from them driving/reversing into things haha.

Thanks! I spent ages looking for a Cooper, i think it all paid off because I really do love it. Needs a new exhaust for my next MOT & a few things to tidy it up a bit then will be perfecto haha :)

About the exhaust, when i first got my cooper, 54 plate, the exhaust had an advisory on it for being rusted to hell and corroded, and although i have now upgraded my exhaust, i read on these forums that mini exhausts do tend to rust quickly but last such a long time after this has happened.

So it might be worth checking just how corroded it is as it may last you for a while longer yet, especially as you say you dont have much in the way of funds. :)
