Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a royal Blue Mini Cooper on a 53plate with Chilli pack and Auto transmission (done about 52k miles) for about £4k. Does this price seem reasonable?

As this is the first Mini I will be buying can you advise me of any pitfalls in regard to this model and if there was any problems in that year/period?

Look forward to your replies and looking forward to my new car!!!!:D

That seems on the cheap side to be honest...check the steering listen for any creaking noises ( front struts / power steering issues ) the whining noise is normal though.

Check that the exhaust is in good nick and that all the electrics work.

Check the xenon lights if the car has them because if they dont work they can be expensive to repair.

***FULL SERVICE HISTORY IS A MUST***

Do you need auto transmission? It is a CVT auto on the earlier Mini's and very expensive to fix when it goes wrong or gets software glitches.......it can cost more than an older car is worth to fix.

Later Mk2 onwards Mini's use a conventional automatic transmission which is far better in the long run.

Sounds fair priced, pretty sure you can knock the price down more
