Hi there everyone,
I would like to say that although I have a bimmer I am using my local garage "Mini" which I believe is part of BMW or something like it.
I would like the help from anyone's gone through problems with their car and succesfully managed to be happy with the outcome.
I have bought the car from a private dealer a while ago. It is a second hand bimmer and having encountered different problems on the way I thought the best thing to do is to take it to a BMW/ Mini garage.
The engine stoped a few times which made me worry... As per the Sales dept fully knowledgeble person who told me that it is the camshaft sensor and needs to be changed stright away I thoght it is thebest thing to do. I have left the car for a few hours and I thought was done.. A few weeks later I was back there as the engine stopped somehow and my rev needle now was going up and down while the engine was just on. Anyhoo, they changed it for free again saying that the sensor was faulty which I was happy. Once done, a few weeks later I was back again and not very happy. I was told that it could be from the rear silencer....which realy I could not believe it for a second. I then accepted the change of it ( almost 400 pounds :() but I thought it could be it....
Right - happy again - returned again with less money in my pocket ( 260 +£400) but still the same problem...even worse now with rev needle going up and down!!!
They have kept my car for 3 days in total but still nothing else...
This is what they have done(it is what they have said verbally) although on the paper is only a list of the materials but nothing about labour:
- replace pulse generator on crnackshaft
- Remove and installed inlet manifold
- o.ring, oil filter, connecting line, hose, connecting line, speed senso, o.ring, manifold gasket set, R/Cover gasket, rivet, grommet, 077773/lock twice, collar scre and Cable tie.
When I have asked the guy (sales man) why there are so many things replaced although he only said about the camshaft sensor replacement he starting to come up with all sorts of reasons... I said that should it be all alright we shall see this time.
Today I was again there and found out that the person who served me was kicked out of the job as he was doing a lot of dodgy staff...which made me think that he changed things that didn't need to be changed...
Anyone can help me here please... what shall I do now??? They think that it could easily be the timming which could go up to £900.00.
I've already spent 1500 on this car so far....with other garage and that is the list:
- expansion tank, tensioner, V belt and Idle tensioner, wish bones, P bushes, drop links, fuel filter, oil filter.
HELP
Thank you in advance,
BF
