Hi I'm picking up my mini cooper convertible 07 plate on Thursday so here's hoping for some sunshine! Anyway after some advice today as i have bought a convertible but it won't be garaged can anyone suggest a decent cover? Are the mini brand ones worth the money?

Hi and welcome :)

I know lots or mini convertibles that are not garaged and have no cover , I think you can get some sort of cleaner/protector for them but as I don't have one please don't quote me on that.

Someone will reply soon and help you :)

Enjoy your mini

I used to use this Autoglym Cabriolet Fabric Hood Cleaning Kit Soft Top Roof Cleaner & Reproofer 5016366255003 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoglym-Cabriolet-Fabric-Hood-Cleaning-Kit-Soft-Top-Roof-Cleaner-Reproofer-/120951997091?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleani ng&hash=item1c294d02a3) when Mrs H had a ragtop, very good stuff, cleans & protects

Decent car covers can be quite expensive, you can get plastic ones cheaply but they arent any good as its basically just a sheet and they dont breathe.
Your MINI would sweat it out under them doing it no good whatsoever, if you were thinking of one of those then youre better off without it.
If you go for a cover get one that will do outside, you can get interior only and interior/exterior types, and make sure its breathable material so the car doesnt sweat under it.
There are a few specialist car cover companies that will do one for you that is a "tailored" fit, these are good for the fact it fits perfectly and wont flap in the wind.
One thats loose and moves if its windy will abraid the paintwork so best avoided too.
I would think a MINI branded one would be up to the job, if its not then MINI would no doubt be getting claims for damaged MINIs and Im sure they wouldnt market something thats unsuitable for their cars.

I used a company that do Specialist Car Covers, of a similar name, for my other car, an Imp, and they did a tailored fit breathable one for me for around £200, fitted perfectly exact profile of the car.

If youre just worried about protecting the roof then they can do a half cover that fits down to the car waistline as well.

I can't seem to find ANY avenue to START a new thread here. I can however reply to active threads.

I'm a new member (presently in the "free" column) and wondering if this is the reason I can't find a "start" button on any page?

Hi and welcome :)

Free members can certainly post new threads, go into any category that fits your question , select if you are first or second gen ( if applicable ) then at the top of the posts which looks like a licence plate says NEW TOPIC , click that and away you go. :)
