Just went to fold down the rear seats on the wifes 2002 cooper and when i pull up both catches and push the backs forward nothing happens on both?

How do i access them to fix? :confused:

hello, that could be either an internal component such as the release mechanism is knackered, but iv known those to need a good pull to get them to release. to get access to this you can take the rear seats out the car and then open them up to have a look inside, it isnt too difficult as i retrimmed my seats myself. however if it is happening on both sides its unlikely that both sides have broke?

I pulled the plastic caps so hard they nearly snapped off.......yeah i was thinking the same about the chances of both being knackered.....at first i thought i must be doing something wrong and was looking for another catch somewhere?

Was looking to see if i could squeeze a screwdriver in between the seats to release it but tbh i don't even know what im looking for as i have never seen them or know where they are situated?
