Hi guys

I track my mini frequently on tarmac races, supersprints and track days. for the last year i have been having massive issue with brake wear.

I am currently running DBA slotted rotars, braided lines and endless pads. My issue is that I am wearing through a set of the rotars and pads every day. I have also put in ducting where the front spotlights usually are, to help with cooling. At my last track day i wore through a pair of endless pads is 2 circa 20 minute sessions.

I track my car with a number of other minis (doing similar times) which don't suffer from similar wear issues.

The brakes generally feel inconsistent, sometimes they bite and the abs cuts in and does its job, other times the wheels are partially locking up (the abs is not cutting in when it should be) and other times there is no bite or abs at all and the brakes feel like two hard sponges pushing together.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Trent

A full set of pads, all the way down, in 40 min of track? Unless you're using some extremely crappy pads or something not for the track, that's unlikely. I've never in any of my track days come anywhere near that and I'm extremely aggressive on my brakes (different car, but the same applies).

What pads are you running?

Would it be down to using slotted discs I wondered, just looking at the slotted surfaces Id expect them to be a bit harder on the pads as its no longer a smooth surface for them to rub against? Bit like using a cheese grater like?

Hi, I have gone through many types of pads, ferodo, hawks, endless and now i have just put on pagid. All hardest spec available.

I do not think it is the rotors as the slots are smooth and the pads are not grated.

Could it be a failing abs module?

There are different compounds. You're just naming brands. What specific pads? I also use slotted. They let gasses escape during brake application and have a cooling effect to some degree. It's a benefit, not a detriment.

i have used the fedoro ds 500"s, the hawk ht10's, not sure re the endless or the pagids.

I've used hawk HP+ and never had an issue. Did you bed them in?
