Hi.

My wife has a 2010 LCI model Cooper S.

I find that the front windscreen wiper makes a banging noise when it changes direction at the most vertical point of travel.

BMW have checked it and it's not hitting anything and apparently 'they all do that'. It seems better when very wet, but otherwise it's annoying.

I've tried all sorts of good quality window cleaner - auto glym polish / fast glass / rain x etc to improve with no change.

Will a change of wiper brand do the trick or do 'they all do that'?

Thanks!

2009 Clubman here - I've just had the original wipers replaced with OEM new ones. When the wipers change direction I get a little "thuck" noise which is the sound of the rubber wiper blade flipping over. Wouldn't describe it as a "banging" though. Both sets (old and new) do/did this.

Is this what you mean?

Aside from that, maybe you can post a video?

You need to check that the wiper arm where the blade assembly affixes is perfectly square to the screen.
Road film on the screen/grease can also cause noise and judder as the wipers operate with low amounts of water on the screen.
Ive found also that a rainX solution applied can make a situation worse instead of better too sometimes.
