Hi

I recently fitted Avon ZZ3's to the MCS. The tyre itself is a huge improvement over the Pirelli Euphoria RF's, however I have started to experience some side wall flex, making the handling slightly "spongy".

Pressures are currently 250kpa in line with MINI's recommendations.

What tyre pressures are you running? Last thing I want to do is over pressurise and knacker the tyres!

Hi Mate, good choice on the tyres!
250 kpa is a bit low. Indeed, I don't know where you got "kpa" from.
On my clubbie the normal pressure for average load is 3 bar which is 300 kpa
Thats me, wife, daughter and labrador.

Cheers - will give it a go.

The 250kpa was taken from the inside of the drivers door which referred to 240kpa for just me and a passenger and 260 kpa for a full load. I am in the car on my own normally so plumped for the middle figure.

I run Avon ZZ3 Runflats a great tyre grip, for summer & winter Pressure is 38psi.
They took a long time to settle in, pumping them twice a week. For the first month.

I returned them to the fitter for resealing he used loads of sealant for very little difference but he done it free of charge and doesn't want to see the car again.
Still pumping them up twice a week, after 3 month's I was pumping once a week
6 months later now pumping them up once month just like my old Dunlop SP 01s.
All the tyres were the same.

I will still buy Avons and get them fitted somewhere else
may be tempted to try Continental for a change

I'm on RFs at 2.8 bar (recommended for full load). I prefer the handling with 2.8 compared to 2.4 (bit flat) and 2.6 (recommended unladen weight).

38psi :o

That seems very high! I suppose I am used to running Elise's at 22-24psi. I will give it a try - the tyres had (a) lost a fair bit of pressure and (b) were still spongey today.

i run 42psi front / 36 psi rear on my 03/2012 cms all4 with 225/45R18 pirelli p7 summer rf tires

i used a tire pyrometer, chalk and my butt to arrive at these pressures

my dad's cms all4 with 205/55R17 pirelli p7 all-season rf tires running at 38psi front / 34 psi rear

also used the pyrometer/chalk/butt on my dad's car
