My 2002 Mini Cooper, paid £2000 for it with just over 100'000 miles on the clock, and drives like a dream! It's my first car and my brother suggested getting a Ford Ka (hell no!) or some other cheap run-around, but where is the class and style in that? :D Hasn't been driven a great deal as work is less than half an hour away on foot, so i tend to drive it weekends and the occasional evening. It's in mint condition (the previous owner parting with it somewhat reluctantly) and only tends to do about 30 miles per week if that. It has the Salt Pack, and zero defects apart from the gremlin under the bonnet!

Nice, welcome to the fold. I've recently come back after a 4 year spell away. My first mini was also a 2002 cooper way back in 2005, loved it and it sounds like you are too. Got a bargain there by the sound of things.

I was well chuffed when i got the car, particularly for the price. The thing was that it was sold out of necessity, as my friend in Leeds had bought the car in July himself, and was promptly told that his contract with ITV Yorkshire wasn't going to be renewed, so he needed to get rid of the car fast. It was mine for £2K paid in cash. Awesome! :D

My latest MCS came at a bargain price because the guy I bought it off had got it for his wife in March but they were now divorcing, he just wanted a quick sale.

So what's the gremlin?

A tapping sound that becomes prevalent when you hit 2000rpm and becomes a 'burring' sound when you hit 3000rpm. Side effects to the engine and any other areas? So far nothing. Never taken it above 50mph due to work being very close by.
