So, I am trading in my Audi TT for a Mini Cooper S.

I am currently looking at 2 and not sure which to go for.

The first is a 57 plate.
It has...
24k
Full black leather
Electric Sunroof
Electric Folding Mirrors
Chili pack
17" Crown alloys
Bi Xenon Headlights
Extra storage pack
FMSH

The second one is a 07 plate
It has...
39,100k
Half Leather
Electric Sunroof
Full John Cooper Works Body Kit
18" JCW alloys
Multi Function Steering Wheel
Chili Pack
Mini Chrome Driving Lamps

The latter is cheaper by £450, but it has more miles and is a little older.

Which is the better buy?!

Thanks all, I have never had a mini before so need some help!
I really wanted the low mileage on the 57 plate, but the alloys, MFSW and body kit on the 07 plate :puzzled:

I had a similar predicament and went older with the aero kit etc.

Much better looking car with the extras!

Push the boat out and go for a MINI Goodwood, youve got the lot then.

I would personally go for the top one no contest, much better mileage, newer, nice full leather, and pan sunroof is a very nice extra. Plus it will be a much better ride on the 17 inch as 18 inch can be back breakers (i sold my cooper s with 18s for that reason) and then you could add the JCW kit at a later date (easy to source in a range of colours and reasonable prices on ebay)

oh and the goodwood is a very limited edition that costs £40000+

Go the second one, 40k on the clock is a new car still!

you have to think of how many miles the car will have done when you come to get rid of it..(hopefully for another mini) the newer one will always be newer and will always have 15+k less miles and therefore will always be more saleable and achieve more money....i kknow the mileage is becoming less important these days but many people/garages prefer lower mileage cars.

I'd go for the first one on account of it having less miles on it, slightly newer, and 17" rather than the hard-riding [according to all that I've read] 18" wheels.

Well thats what I kept thinking - go for less miles as it will be newer longer!

Buuuuut... I really want the JCW bodykit and the multi function steering wheel which I hear is a fortune to install after.

Both cars have sunroofs :)

decisions decisions !

also, I am not bothered about the difference between the 17 and 18" wheels.
I have a TT just now with 19s on it and apparently (before I got it) everyone said the 19s were awful and backbreaking...but I dont notice it!

the problem with the ride on the mini is the size of the wheels for car of such a short wheelbase, plus the suspension has no play in it whatsoever....(ive driven a tt and they deal with it much better....), i would advise test driving a model with 18 inch wheels along a poorer road (with pot holes, low manhole covers etc) as we all like different things. A jcw kit can be easily fitted and doesnt cost the earth...the mfs wheel is more expensive and trickier to fit however. I think to be honest the mileage would do it for me....that 15k miles is nearly a year and a half of extra wear and tear, plus the top one is newer to start with..

First one.

Serious low profiles look awful IMHO and the ride is shocking. The cost of replacing tyres is worth a thought. You won't get much more than 8k out of the fronts unless you drive like granny, this isn't possible in a Mini, you have to misbehave, its the rules.

We've just chopped our 30k Mini Cooper in and everything still worked perfectly, switches etc still felt A1 so if there is any sign of wear anywhere on either of the cars, beware.

Will :)
