: Clutch issue?

Hi all

So i've had my mini for two weeks now and love it. Still thinking of a cool name but hey... less of that and onto my question.

When setting off from a stop, in first, I depress the clutch pedal and when slowly releasing the clutch there's a horrible noise that can only be described as metal rubbing against metal. It's like a moan/sqweek.

The clutch is not slipping and is fine when changing second through six it's only when pulling off from a stand still.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Clutch squeal is quite common and provided it doesn't worry you too much you don't need to do anything about it.

Is it anything like described in this thread:

That sounds like good news to me, it does sound horrendous though :(

Yes, it's 'sounds' like the same sort of issue. It's only when setting off in first but I can feel it through the gear stick, it's horrible :(
