i have heard a lot a bout HID 6000k bulbs, are they any good?
Any alternative suggestions?
Thanks,
Sam

Hi mate depends what your looking for! I'm not particularly blooking for the xenon look so upgraded mine to osram nightbreaker plus' massive improvement over standard but not cheap at around £15-£17 mark:eek:

When you say HID bulbs are you referring to the kits that have a xenon bulb and ballast? If so then I wouldn't bother. They are illegal as you need a projector designed for HIDs installed on the car. The UK government also insist on self leveling and a washer system.

From a previous post on here:
All of our products are MOT approved and fully E-compliant in all safety, E.M. emission and performance specifications.
There is a lot of misinformation regarding the legality of HID systems fitted to cars without headlamp power wash and rear axle self levelling these are only an E.U. legal requirement on Xenon systems fitted to NEW cars AT THE FACTORY PRODUCTION STAGE .
HID systems fitted as aftermarket accessory DO NOT REQUIRE the car to have power wash or self levelling; even the DOT have been known to get this wrong sometimes.

I agree with the self leveling and washer systems, the DfT got this completely wrong after misinterpreting EU legislation. But you still need a projector designed and E marked for xenon bulbs. A projector designed and E marked for regular halogen bulbs fitted with an E marked xenon bulb isn't legal. Most insurance companies put in their small print that your car must be road legal for them to cover it, illegal after market xenon kits are quickly becoming one of the biggest reason for insurers to refuse claims. The DfT apply the same laws that govern new cars to existing cars when it comes to HiDs, otherwise they wouldn't be legal even with correctly designed projectors as a retro fit.
