My gearstick knob spins around and around and I really want to fix it. I looked up a few youtube videos and they say that inside the knob there is bar that stops it spinning, so do you think that is broken inside mine and I need to buy a new one?

To get your knob to come off you need to give it a good tug.
To refit it you must align it with the key on the lever and then push it on.
If yours is turning, maybe the key has sheared or dropped out, you need to pull your knob off and have a look, if the key is then there and your knob still moves then maybe the insert inside your knob has parted company from the main material, then it might need renewing.
