: Roll Call! HI AprilWhine Jan 19th, 2003, 11:31 AM Post here if you live in this region and would like to be contacted for local events. But remember, the best place to find events is your local forum and the MINI2 events calendar.
Edited to add: some forums are more active than others. People signing up may be contacted by a local club if one exists, but MINI organizations are at the beginning right now. I know of only four clubs contacting members from the roll call threads and you may not live in their area.
Sorry to get your hopes up, but if no one has contacted you maybe you should start a local club? :)
AW JCIP Jan 23rd, 2003, 11:53 PM Hoping to get enough Big Island folks together to make service/repair possible without shipping cars off-island. If any Mini owners are out there, lets get organized!;) HonoluluDoug Jan 25th, 2003, 01:20 AM Is there a MINI club here on Oahu? Any women in it, or is it comprised only of old single guys going through a mid-life crisis? ...like me. JCIP Jan 27th, 2003, 02:18 AM Aloha Doug! I don't know if there is an Oahu club yet, but I am sure there will be. Check the forum memebers for others in Hawaii. I know there are at least 2-3 others on Oahu.
I am hoping to get in touch with some of the new owners on the Big Island, not just as a club, but also to pool resources since there is not dealer represntative on the island. It would be nice to have someone provide contract service/warranty work, etc., without having to return the cars to Oahu, and this will affect every new Mini owner here.
Thanks, Jim The Beastmaster Feb 18th, 2003, 05:28 AM Hmmm, it's good to see this Hawaii forum. How you doing Jim? How's the S? We have a High Perf Driving School coming up April 26, and our Aloha 500 probably on July 26.
Mini club? I know that Andy Kaufman is trying to start one and I'm still waiting for info from MINI CCA on starting a Hawaii Chapter. The Beastmaster Feb 18th, 2003, 08:23 AM Pic of the New and the Old!
http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=295180 JCIP Feb 18th, 2003, 05:46 PM Aloha Bryan! Yes I have my 'S', and we are doing fine at 500 miles. Just got my tint done, and Moss Motor's skid plate installed. Now, it's on to more motoring! I was hoping that some of the Big Island Mini people would find this forum and be willing to combine forces to persuade Mini/Mini of Hawaii to provide a local source for warranty and repair. So far, we don't have too many takers. I will be trying to track them down as time goes by. I would love to see the HiPref driving event. Just not sure about my schedule as yet. How about your new 'S'? Everything you hoped? I am even more amazed now that I have spent some time with the Mini, and very pleased. I initially thought 1st gear was way too low, now, after a couple of traffic-jams (yes we do have them here on the Big Isand), I find it perfect for the creepy-crawlies! Just like having an automatic! I am just starting to get adventurous, but the capabilities are amazing!
Jim
:D HI-MINI Feb 21st, 2003, 07:00 AM Interested in the Performance Driving School. Is it like an autocross school? What about autocross events. The MINI does well in autocrossing. HI-MINI Feb 21st, 2003, 07:27 AM Brian, where did you get your classic mini? Saw a black one 3 yrs ago and and that how I got my new MINI S. The Beastmaster Feb 23rd, 2003, 12:22 AM Actually, the clssic belongs to a guy named Andy Kaufman and I just parked next to him at the airport. He left a note on my car and the rest is history!
Your EB S looks familiar, are you Romeo?
As for the High Perf Driving School, we have instructors locally (one use to instruct at Brands Hatch), and from the mainland who will instruct you on vehicle dynamics, weight transfer... It is a safe controlled environment where the instructor will be at your side, in your car, showing you the proper driving techniques. You will get a chance to use these skills when we get onto the road race course later in the morning.
We haven't set up any autox events since SCCA does a very good job of it. Maybe we'll plan an autox day for the BMWs and MINIs. HI-MINI Feb 24th, 2003, 07:32 AM Where and how much to attend the Performance School. Need more information.
Archie The Beastmaster Feb 26th, 2003, 06:51 AM Archie,
I either met you at MINI of Hawaii or Justin pointed you out to me. Romeo has an EB/W S w/ 18 ASA JS5's, so I thought you were him.
As for the cost, we're still working it out, but it should be @$199 for the day. Lunch and all the water you need is included.

Bryan Booger K. May 9th, 2003, 10:39 AM Aloha, Jim
I'm moving to the Big Island late summer/fall. I already have a MINI so service has been a concern. When I get to the BI I'll definitely follow up with you because I don't want to sell. I love this car!
BTW, someone on another site told me that MINI sends a mechanic to Bavarian Motorworks in Kailua-Kona occasionally. Do you know what's up with this? Maybe I misunderstood...
Thanks, Booger Amigo Jul 1st, 2003, 07:44 AM aLoHa MiNi pEopLe of Hawaii,
I will be arriving in your great state on 12 July for some RR and I just wanted to know if there are any good suppliers of go-fast bits (like Minimania in CA) on your islands or are they limited to the mainland?
Anyways, I hope to see some mInis (the four wheeled kind) when I get there :-)
Eddie JCIP Jul 1st, 2003, 10:39 PM Maybe you'd like to bring some things over to us! Let us know where you will be visiting, and we will come by to collect our orders! Serioiusly, I don't know of anybody developing items over here. We are all trying to get deals on shipping which is a major cost of any purchase here in the islands.
Enjoy your trip, and let us know where you are headed.
Aloha,
JCIP :yellow: Amigo Jul 2nd, 2003, 03:56 AM Hi JCIP,
My G/frnd and I will be spending five nites in Oahu, followed by four nites in Maui and another three nites in Kaui.
Here in Sydney we have a tuner called Peak Performance and they provide the Hartge kit for the MCS. I'm just getting to know the Mini2 community over here and they seem to be very knowledgeable about all the available tuners and suppliers of performance gear for the MCS here in Australia.
I think after my warranty period, I will have the Hartge kit installed along with matching exhaust system.
The JCWs kit will be arriving in Aus fairly soon but in limited numbers and along with a fairly rich price tag. The Hartge kit is currently sold here for $5000 (AUD)fitted with the JCW being $11000 (AUD)...ouch :(
Some of the guys with the Hartge kit say this thing is the bomb and it seriously Rocks!
Aloha
Eddie moorlockx Feb 27th, 2004, 05:54 PM Saw on the weather channel a story about the rains in Honolulu yesterday and today. During the story there was a rear shot of a gold/black MINI driving down the street. It happened so fast I didn't catch anything else about it. Someone got some national coverage, if for only a second or two. :) MINILLA Apr 3rd, 2004, 05:19 PM Hi everyone. I'm in Hawaii on the island of Kauai for a few days staying at the Sheraton on Poupu Beach. Have seen two MINI's both red/white --- one was plated NWA 275 (I think) couldn't see the plate of the second one. Some of the islands roads look like they might be a good drive in a MINI -- they're not much good in a SEBRING! Back to DC area on Monday! :wone: aussiesupermini May 10th, 2004, 03:17 AM hello there fellow mini drivers in hawaai,
Am pleased to announce that we are visiting yours beautiful shores but will terribly miss my :eb: mini cooper s. Would love to catch up with any other drivers who love their mini as much as we do . Have convertible coming early next year and would love to see what you are all driving on the islands. You will be happy to know that there are a few of us girls in the australian mini clubs, especially on the north coast. Took our minis racing at eastern creek international raceway last week and the top speed achieved was 194kms due to the short distance of straight. HAd fun competing with the ferraris and porsches they killed us in the straight but we caught up with them on the bends. Great day.
Will be in your beautiful country August 7th till August 22nd. Would love to catch up
Ann and Peter Puch jcsinnh Jun 27th, 2004, 01:37 AM You are awfully quiet. Stephen King visiting Hawaii? Anyway, as you are about as far west as it gets, thought you'd like a link to MINIs on TOP, 2004. Great pictures of 50 of us seeing the sun (kinda) first in the US then driving 200+ miles, meeting 110 more MINIs for sunset the same day.

Not only what he said, Mr. Toes was there!
I am writing from Connecticut. I know we have a connection through our MINIs. However, I bet we also have a connection through the love of animal adventures. I am currently writing a book about my 3500 mile road trip I took with my girlfriend's cat. His name is Mr. Toes because he has more toes than most cats. His popularity is growing and I thought my friends on the islands would like to hear about Mr. Toes.
Let me warn you. Mr. Toes is an evil monster.
Read for yourself:

Recently, someone (not me) has even started a Mr. Toes Fan Club:

So come on over to the dark side of Mr. Toes. Have some fun!
Ice Choprpilot76 Jun 7th, 2005, 06:35 PM It has almost been a year since this thread has had life......is it dead? I don't feel a pulse, I think we lost it. Any way here is an attempt at CPR. I am on my way to the island in about 3 1/2 weeks and I am bringing my MINI, is anyone there still alive with a MINI? Is there a MINI Club on the island? I am hoping to find some fellow Miniac's when I arrive. I have pics of my MINI in my gallery. Hope to see some of you soon.
Ciao, Daron AprilWhine Jun 7th, 2005, 06:49 PM Hi Daron and welcome! It will be great to actually have someone in Hawaii posting. ;) JCIP Jun 7th, 2005, 06:52 PM Actually, there is quite a Mini club going on in Oahu, and that is the island where you are heading? Correct? I am on the Big Island, and while we don't have a Mini club, we have a lot of Minis! Maybe someone from the Oahu group will pick your message up, and get in touch, and plan on a lot of Mini Motoring!
Aloha,
Jim :D AprilWhine Jun 7th, 2005, 07:00 PM Sorry Jim :o
It's just that the HI forum is so Quiet! Choprpilot76 Jun 7th, 2005, 07:02 PM Awesome, well if you know anyone in the club or even the president of the club, let em know I am coming and ask them if they could possibly contact me through this thread. Thanks, Daron. JCIP Jun 7th, 2005, 07:11 PM I sent an email off to one of the guys, and hopefully we will hear something back that I can forward too you. And, for April, I think a lot of us are bouncing back and forth, and there was a good deal of posting going on at North American Motoring from the Hawaii folks. I think it just depends on what the interests are and what is being developed. It is always nice to get the opinions and contributions from the 'international' crowd!
Many Thanks,

Jim  tomt Aug 10th, 2005, 01:06 AM Aloha! We just spent two weeks on the big island at the beginning of July. Unfortunately, we left the day our Mini Cooper S arrived at the dealer. :( We had a Jeep Wrangler as a rental car which wasn't nearly as much fun as a mini, though there were a few places the Jeep could go that the Mini probably couldn't.
Anyway, we saw quite a lot of Mini's, mostly by Hilo or Volcano pyratio Sep 11th, 2005, 11:54 AM --Hey everyone. Keith from Honolulu here. I get my MCSa in october/november. Attended a HMMC meet last week and it was fun. :D Come on out! Nice friendly helpful people. I've already bought some used Mini parts from people and I don't even have my car yet! Hope to see y'all out there. The club is also frequently active on www.northamericanmotoring.com. Hope to see ya'll out there motoring.
