Took five hours to go from Birmingham to London yesterday, A40 closed due to accident. As always traffic anouncements were either inaccurate or too late. Congestion on the way home added to the frustration.

Anyway, I am looking at Trafficmaster Monitor - the unit that gets installed in your car and receives all the information from the roadside monitors. It's £20 a month but I am prepared to pay that. It is better than the YQ2 in that it is colour and has a touch screen etc.

Has anyone had any experience of this equipment?

I have Satnav as well so I am trying to work out where to have it fitted!

I haven't had experience with that version of Traffic Master, but I have had the Jam Buster "Traffic Master" unit installed in my MINI. The one that MINI advertised in their last mail shot.

It worked great going from Truro Cornwall to York. gave me verbal warnings in plenty of time and also flashed red for problems and green for clear road. I can recommend it.

I've had a YQ2 for a couple of years now. At the beginning I found that I was still encountering jams. Now TM seem to have got their act together.

The biggest difference was not in avoiding jams but in knowing how long you could expect to be delayed.

Problem is that my YQ2 is out of warranty and has failed 3 times. TM want £65 each time for replacement or repair so I've binned the little bugger.

My impression of the TM Monitor is that it is a big upgrade on the YQ2 and will probably be more reliable.

Now that I have VDO Sat-Nav, I'm going to get TMC fitted to see what that is like.
