I attended the Italian Job opening in Baton Rouge last week, and I ran into a guy with a MCS set up for the track. After quizzing him a bit regarding where, when, etc., I find out that there is an honest-to-god ROAD TRACK in Ascension Parish, about halfway between Baton Rouge and my home in New Orleans.
I attended a road race event there Sunday, and I was impressed! It's a good track--14 turns in 1.8 miles, and guess what? They let you drive the track between races! Not at speed, though, but that's no problem either, because--
YOU CAN RENT TIME on the track for $150 per hour, split the cost with a few friends, and flail around the course and really learn how to handle your car.
Anybody interested?
(They also offer one-on-one competition driving training for $350 for three hours, of which about one-half hour is in the classroom.)
I'm in Hawg Heaven (even though I'm a Yankee).
