: MINI Meet in Philly? Tonymini Aug 10th, 2003, 08:48 PM Just a little note to say Thanks to Julie and Scott,
for a job well done. I only stayed for the first 1/2 and it was Fun.
I drove that Flat home all the way from Philly.
Thank God for runflats. (there was a little hole in the sidewall) Damm Potholes!!!! I could have probably completed the rallye
but that would have been pushing it.
Thanks for being so helpful in my time of need.
;) CooperSQT Aug 10th, 2003, 11:09 PM Cool! We are ON ACTION NEWS! WPVI-6, Philadelphia. We just watched the news at 6PM and Rob Jennings talked about our meet. Some of the mini's were on- Charlie's '73 Orange Mini, and MINI ME1, Terry's mini, and they got me :p our MCS BRG right before the ending. It was about a minute story- but it was cool. The bikers were in it and Rob Jennings said something like "people were admiring those cars as if they were pets!"
Channel 6 repeats their news stories at 11PM and 1:35AM if any of you can stay up late and watch. I hope they repeat it, it was cool! I wish I had a VCR to tape it, then I can save a digital movie of it for the web. I know, I'm a dork!! :D
Thanks so much to all of you for coming out today and having such a great showing! ! I just love the camaraderie that mini ownership has given us. 37+ mini's is a great number. That shot from Camden, Ted, is awesome!!!!!
Remember to check the Philadelphia Daily News tomorrow for a possible photo. I'll get the paper tomorrow and if I see it, I'll scan it.
The rain held off just enough for us, thanks to mother nature, too. She likes those mini's!

PS-If any of you have any comments about today or suggestions for a future Philadelphia event, please feel free to forward them to me personally or post on the boards. I would love to hear your comments as to what we can do to make future gatherings even better. CooperSQT Aug 10th, 2003, 11:15 PM Just a little note to say Thanks to Julie and Scott,

TONY! You are such a trooper! I can't believe you drove all the way home to NY! It's great to know those run flats can do that, though. But geez! How many miles was that? I hope my directions to the service center weren't too confusing for you. You and Nancy were good sports considering slightly dampened spirits :( I felt so bad about your flat! I hope to see you again at a future gathering- maybe that Brooklyn to Montauk run? Stay tuned- lots of photos will be posted soon...and don't forget...if you can get Philadelphia stations- watch Channel 6-(ABC?) WPVI- Action News, they had us on at 6:22 PM tonight :D
~Julie tontobird Aug 11th, 2003, 12:54 AM It was so cool to see us on Action News!! :D :D
Thank you Julie and Scott for your hard work in putting this run together. What a great city drive!! We sure did see lots! Company at lunch was also a pleasure.
Tony, glad you made it home safely. It was good to see you again.
Michelle ASobkowiak Aug 11th, 2003, 02:01 AM What a wonderful day! Thanks and a big shout-out to Julie and Scott, who planned. mapped, and led us all on a delightful rally through the City of Brotherly Love. :)
Jennifer and I have outdone ourselves this time!!
We have over 183 pictures we're uploading to shutterfly.
We'll send you a link as soon as we can!

That pic reminds me of the Italian Job. All that's missing is a big metal plate where the truck fell. ;)
I watched Action News. No repeat. Some stupid story about an Italian kissing festival. Not that I have anything against kissing Italians mind you... ;)
-Jim laughscott Aug 11th, 2003, 01:46 PM Hello Everyone,
Well, I did it. After tooting around Philadelphia for 3/4's of the day with all of you, I then drove up to Wilkes-Barre for dinner with a friend, and just got back this morning!!! OK, so I'm obsessed with driving ZOE!! For those of you that were wondering, thank goodness I didn't take the motorcycle, the skies opened up a downpour on many miles of my journey!!
OK, a few thoughts and thanks....
JULIE and ED, what a pleasure it was working with you!! Great Rally, great friends and no-one got lost (well, expect for those few wrong turns in Fairmont Park!)!!!
TONY, so glad you made it home safe and sound! Our first Rally casualty! Now we know that the run-flats will go for at least 90 miles!
ALAN & JENNIFER, 183 photos??? My god, you are the shutter captains!! Can't wait to see all the pics!
JOHN, that's my MCS up front, along with the other MCS (sorry guys, forgot your names, but the guy that called in the Daily News was in that MCS!). What a great shot!
To the folks from Scranton, were you driving home this morning? Saw a LY/W MCS with white strips on the NE Extension around 8:15 or so, heading North. Right around the Allentown exit!! Gave you a hoot, but you were flying!!!
Now, as Julie had suggested, we had a few other recommendations over lunch for the next major Rally. Seems someone wanted a Cape May, NJ Rally, and someone else wanted a Route 7 Rally in Delaware. I suggest we combine the two, and cross the Delaware on the Lewes Ferry!!! Late October??? Who wants to take the lead??
One last plug, take a long week-end from 12-14 September, and join us to Cape Cod for a great ride, Scavenger Hunt, and a few other fun ideas!!!
Cheers, and see you all around.
To our long distance friends from MD & CT, hope you made it home safe and sound, and thanks for coming such a long way to meet new friends!

Scott Agnewkid Aug 11th, 2003, 06:05 PM I saw you guys on the news this morning befor egoing to work. MY Indi Blue S is still "On Order" (Production date soon I hope), still I would have lved to have seen all the Coopers. The really bad thing is I went motoring by Main Line Sunday morning then on up 23 for a good ride. Would have been nice, maybe next time!
:( :( :( :( :(
Kevin :indi: DED GRL Aug 13th, 2003, 12:10 AM HI Everyone, We finally made it over here to MINI2. We had a wonderful time and it was a pleasure meeting everyone and seeing all of those beautiful MINI's.
Thank you Julie and Scott ....
So now the planning for the next one. Peter and I have decided that we are willing to take lead the next rally.
Tentatively speaking... I'm looking at a fall foilage / lighthouse run. Which will include the drive into Cape May, fairy crossing into Delaware with the return run up route 9. It should make for a good long day of motoring and fun.
We have posted a few photos on our web site from the Philly Rally if anyone is interested in a peek. http://www.hartkecreations.com/ourmini/PhillyMiniMeet
We had a great time and can't wait for the next :)
