A little advice needed....?

I am signed up for the run and raring to go as it will be my first but have a quick question...?

I am a little protective of my wheels, and as I damaged my wheels on my first MCS I am now a little over protective! Not only because it doesnt look nice with chunks and scratches out of the alloys but they are also expensive and can damage resale value instantly....

So, tomorrow I am getting a new set of 18" wheels fitted....

What are the chances of me damaging them on the run??

I have seen in some pics there can be some mighty pot holes and stones etc on the roads. I know this is probably a sill question but those of you who went on Chilterns I....any advice?!

Cheers,

Jones! :D

Get them fitted on Monday   :p

The route consists of a lot of narrow country lanes which are generally in good condition but you never know.... :(
Is your car lowered too??? If so you will bottom out

Jones - do not worry, I've never damamged a wheel and done lots of runs - and some on far far worse roads than these. It's all about driving appropriately for the road - tank it on a narrow bumpy twisty you might damage your wheels, take a bit of care you'll be fine - don't be put off, come along and enjoy it :)

Yeah, sound advice I think! Cheers Soggy!

Maybe we could tell Jones where two of the suspect areas are where he could potentially slightly bottom out. - However I think thats only likely if they're approached at speed - given the numbers on the run I doubt whether that speed could be reached again.

I'm lowered tooo :(.. but Jones make sure you don't follow shams and you'll be fine ;). On a serious note though, i have driven a few runs with the Maniacs and we've been through some major single track roads but can say touch wood my wheels have been fine. Even been stuck in the mud and came out ok but thats a long story :p

Ooooppps forgot Shams is not driving on the run

Look forward to seeing your car Jones and others. I am sure there will be some serious talent this weekend and plenty of :D

Hope all those going for the fun and games have fun tonight, safe driving. I shall see you all tomorow - bright and early. Sham has kindly offered to bring me to the start - so I won't have to inflict the Escort van on you all..... ;) :D

Hay, i found out last night due to a very nice phone call from the dealer that my car is due in for its inspection 1 - 24,000 service.

The car is there today and i pick it up at 5pm. Now lets see if they have done the other little bits and bobs that are wrong with it aswell.

And the fact that it needs a clean after the Chilterns Run. What a state, but still not as bad as some of the Cooper S'

Magik :)
