Channel 5 is a good choice because: 1. It's 1 watt instead of .5 watts according to my radidio instructions. 2. It's only for people who are duly and legally licensed/registered with the Fed. 3. We all are in compliance w/ #2; 4. If you are not in compliance w/ #2 you are a scofflaw and a MINI Renegade and we are bad mo-fo's, look out!

My Motorola Talk About radios have 22 channels. Channels 1-7 and 15-22 are GMRS and transmit at 1 watt; channels 8-14 are FSR and transmit at .5 watts. The literature that came w/ the radios says that GMRS operators must obtain a radio license before operating their equipment. As I interpret it we are air wave renegades if we use channels 1-7 and 8-14.
