: Black Aero Grill on a Standard Bumper???

Hi Folks,

I just asked my friendly local dealer about fitting the Black Grill from the Aero kit to my standard Cooper S. He was under the impression that the top bonnet part would fit fine, but the lower bumper insert was not such a good fit to the standard front bumper.

Has anyone done this already? Can you confirm or deny the quality of the fit? Any pics?

Thanks
Stuart

Actually in the club, we have few members did that. Try to browse the event gallery at http://www.norcalminis.com/gallery/index.asp

you might find some pictures are like that. It is not perfect fit, but you can make it to perfect fit, just need to work on it. it's doable.

Thanks for the advice and photos Dinlo :D

Do you know if its something best left to the dealer to fit, or is the fitting quite simple?

If only there was a MINI2 FAQ on this subject.........

There is a FAQ on it, its just not a MINI2 one (though perhaps Paul/MINIAC could ask him to copy it)

I think you can do it yourself, plus I don't think dealer will do a good job on this. :p

RE: the grill, Is it the same part for a Cooper and an S??? I think they are different sizes? Only I want one and have seen one advertised, but it didn't state what car it came from...

the bottom grille is like 24 bucks...its for the aero bumper. however it can be made to fit on the cooper S or the cooper.with a bit of work...took me about 3 hours on a slow wekend to do it..and it dramatically changes the look of the car imo

hi tony, theres one for sale on eBay UK at the moment. However its only the top part and not the bottom part. The asking price is £10 and the list price in the UK is £30 for the top part and £21 for the bottom part.

Let us know how you get on fitting it

My dealer just told me that they cant fit the lower part of the grill because it wouldnt fit.
I hope it looks good now just with the upper grill. I have a indi blue so I am not too worried. I just might buy the grill seperately and do it myself.

I knew it was too good to be true.

It can be fit, it just takes more then $95 parts and labor to do it, because there's cutting and such involved, which the dealer didn't bother to look into beforehand, its not a straight replacement.

Just do the bottom part yourself, its a good get to know your car thing.
