I am getting ready to install my own bonnet stripes. Can anybody give me any advice

Does any of you who has or has tried to intall them yourself ever wish you got a professional to install them instead?

Are there any websites that have good illustrated instructions?

no illustrations but the instructions on cooperflags worked perfectly for me.

1. don't be shy with the spray
2. go slow
3. squeeze from the center outwards and from the top down
4. double, triple, quadruple check your placement before you start squeegeeing too far.
5 if it starts to dry even slightly add more spray

Agree with GMINI03. Use lots of the soapy solution lubricant. And don't forget to use tape mark guides to get them lined up just right before and during installation. Have a clean, as dust free as possible, work area and car. Patience is key. I too was a graphics virgin, and the instrcutions from Matt at CooperFlags were easy to follow. You can also check the 3M web site for more info and hints.

Good luck.

Wash & dry, the area the stripe is to be fitted, at least twice, as any dust trapped, will show up like a sore thumb .
Simply peel off the graphic, spray the adhesive side with a solution of water and washing up liquid/baby shampoo(1/100 ratio) Use more rather than alittle.
Place in the required area, and squeegee. Cover the squeegee if no transfer paper is covering the stripe.
It is a good idea to use tape to mark where the decal is going to be fitted.
Take your time. Make sure its completely dry/stuck, before driving.

YES, Don't install them if you think that one day you will want to remove them. they will ruin the paint.

Judicious use of a heat gun will work wonders. Best not to get distracted, though.

[Edited for clarification: The heat gun works very nicely for BOTH installing and removing.]

I just did a search with a few key words, more than a couple of previous threads popped up.

I tried to install them myself and was not happy with the results. There was some dust or something under them and they did not look good. I had a new set put on by the dealer and was very happy.

Motor On! :D :D :D
