gmini03--each of my cars have about 4 sets of wheels and tires...
i have plenty of room, especially with my new house being built in july. 6 car garage. :) Paul Oct 16th, 2003, 06:18 AM paul i would like to see pics..:)
I know, just sayin I know there on here somewhere! :)
Not sure where though. red03miniS Oct 16th, 2003, 06:28 AM oh ok thanks :) Mugami Oct 16th, 2003, 05:40 PM Ive put the 15" holies on my 03 MCS while i was cleaning the 17" impulse so yes they fit. As for the ride straight line comfort there isn't that much of a diff.. on handeling since there isnt as much as an off-set you feel more of a pitch in the corners do to the standance being narrower as well as the bigger sidewalls make it feel a little squishy in the rear end. I believe the 195 is the widest tire that can fit on the rim but you need to check with places like Tirerack and other for that information. SugarBelly Oct 16th, 2003, 06:54 PM I'm trying to help, red03minis! :)

I sent my little brother-out-law to take pix. Alas, it was to dark, why it's a negative appearance. ***PM me an e-mail addy & I'll forward more for you...[to post]
Sorry, but I just don't know enough about re-sizing pix & all, - gets me flustered!
-L :D
PS.
Both the hubby & I really noticed a difference from the 17" heavy & stiff SS+ standards with Run-Flats. 175s may fit, but I can't confirm that. Hubby put 205/60s on them for "summer-lovin' fun" or what?! [as in pics]. :) Oh yes. He also said "lean-in" was more easily noticable. What I felt was what he called, "Torque Steer" being more prominent. We both found "SugarBelly" being much quicker on the "get-up & go!" :D

thank you very much for the help! i really appreciate it.
i know the 175 will fit, because that is the standard size of the tire. so you guys put 195/60 on their..perfect..thats what i would run, i wasnt sure that it would fit
will await more pics :) SugarBelly Oct 16th, 2003, 10:04 PM SugarBelly is wearing 205/60s above. Non-Runflats. ;) These wheels are a little darker in color than the S-lite R85s. I like the lighter color better. Actually, these remind me too, too much of normalni SKODA wheels to really appreciate them. I want some Star-shaped R83s, because I think the 16" size will be best looking on the MINI. Hubby says they aren't easy to find used yet & they're much heaveir than these.
To date, I know hubby has only found 1 instance where a few needed a bit more pressure. He was worried about the 205-size holding on the wheels too, but he goes to see a retired "tire-man," :D who promised they would fit. He's still experimenting with various pressures, but 33psi is where he's at now... much less, "squishy," do you say ? , then even 31psi was. :D
I'll get him back here to confirm my words & offer better pix for you all if interested. I do know that he started telling me about some "swaybar" upon hearing me talk about feeling the "pulling" of these light wheels. [That's what he called the "torque steer."]
"Uh, yes honey!" :p ;) :p
SugarBelly gets more attention & presents than me nowadays! :( ;)
Cau 4 now.
-L SugarBelly Oct 28th, 2003, 07:28 PM will await more pics :) Here you go, red03... ;)

last question, is the car lowered, or stock?
and yes get the swaybar ;) SugarBelly Oct 28th, 2003, 08:39 PM see if you can get a full car shot in bright light ( i am sorry if am asking a lot, that will finally seal the deal :) ) Will do, perspective requires it I know. These are too close for comfort viewing. Fools, - I mean folks kept parking to close to me! ;)
thank you again for being so much help! No worries, - anytime!
last question, is the car lowered, or stock?
Stock. I know, even the low "stance" picture isn't good enough here.
and yes get the swaybar ;) Right, right! ;)
*When I posted similar data in the Cooper Forum I got a message from MINIAC which you may want to read/heed:A 205/60-15 tire is pretty "tall" at 26.69" (627.00mm).
The sizes which offer the most high performance tire choices are 195/55-15 and 205/55-15:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43188
Both these sizes have a lower overall diameter than stock and provide better acceleration. | |
