: January 2004 Production Group AmRov Jan 27th, 2004, 02:59 PM :) I found the Freedom -- wayyyy up at the top. For those interested -- she last reported in at 49 24' N, 47 12'W. Time to head south!!!
I *finally* figured out an easier way to find the boats rather than looking for the little dots on the "marine observations" screen on the oceanweather.com site. For those "slow" at this like me -- click on the "java loop observation table" AFTER you've clicked on "marine observations." This gives you a table sorted alphabetically by ship call sign. Then you just scroll down and find your ship's call sign, get the position information, and you can then jump back to the "marine observations" chart and find your boat's position graphically.
Happy hunting, all you with MINI's "in transit"! :D Eric B Jan 27th, 2004, 03:09 PM Ok Ok I think our cars are going to Disney World before continuing their voyage http://mini2.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Eric B Jan 27th, 2004, 03:10 PM click on the "java loop observation table"
Actually the "java loop" and "observation table" are 2 different items. the java loop will show you an animated loop of the last 3 maps AmRov Jan 27th, 2004, 03:16 PM Ohhh... well, I just clicked my pointer in that general direction, and got the table, which was cool; I had no idea that existed! Just what I had been looking for.
As for the Taiki -- do they have to stop and re-fuel, perhaps? I mean, they still have quite a ways to go... Interesting that they don't list the pit stop. Plus, I'm sure the crew does want a break, after over a week at sea. Small consolation for you, though, huh?? Get going, boys!!! trhjr Jan 27th, 2004, 03:32 PM I show that I am booked on the ATLANTIC BREEZE which is set to sail on 2/1. Is this information pretty accurate on the WW site from everyone's experience? AmRov Jan 27th, 2004, 03:41 PM Just in case -- don't get TOOO excited until the WW site actually shows your car LOADED. My car was originally booked on a boat leaving 1/17, but got bumped to the Freedom, which left 1/22 (and arrives 8 days sooner, so I'm happy!). My status didn't change for several days past 1/17 -- even after the first boat sailed, my car was still listed as "booked" on that one. It changed on 1/21. Glad you found your boat and MINI. Hope the weather is not too bad up there.
Was chatting with my Austin buddy yesterday and telling him about our MINI "club." He thinks we're both nuts but wonders if he knows you also. Would you consider sending a private message with the name of your firm? Don't want to blow your cover.
I told him about SCOOPER and we both agreed, you're not mean enough to be a litigator...
LOL.

I wouldn't mind a few REAL roller coaster rides myself. :D
I woke up at 4 am with a jolt from the heavens. A voice told me they are refueling. I'm sure of it. ;)
Hope this stop is figured into the arrival date projection. We can only watch at this point. If we can figure out what port they are headed for, maybe Eric can find us another "live-cam."
It will be nice to be a normal woman again, but I can see that is a ways off. :bad: :bad:

P.S. Is anyone brave enough to call WW and ask them what port they are headed into? (I only call about tugboats... that's my limit.) bryandixon Jan 27th, 2004, 06:32 PM Once the car is discharged from the vessel (which I expect to happen tomorrow for me) and is in the hands of the vehicle distribution center, what is the best way to track progress? From what I've read and from talking to my friend who got his cooper last week, after you car leaves the factory, your dealer is actually the best place to go for delivery dates. Mini Momma Jan 27th, 2004, 11:57 PM I'm betting the Taiki is docked somewhere since they didn't report in for the 1800 observation report. Tomorrow should be interesting to see which way it is going.

Hey all you Maersk Taiki folks. I've been riding your coattails, in advance. My Audrey departed Southampton 6 days before you on the Galaxy Leader. This ship however is not listed in the W & W fleet, it's call sign (from the US Coast Guard) has never shown up on the oceanweather.com site and I've been checking obsessively. I even emailed W &W to ask them if they had any info on the Galaxy Leader. Their response was: "We regret that you are not able to trace the sailing schedule for Galaxy Leader as this is a vessel that Wallenius Wilhelmsen charter space on. We therefore do not publish schedule or information like call sign for this vessel.
We fully understand your interest in tracking the ship and will do our utmost to get you the information you require. We are presently in contact with our Wallenius Wilhelmsen office in Tokyo to try to obtain more information about the ship.
We will revert with more information as soon as at hand. Thank you for your patience and have a nice day! "
The next day their email to me said this: "We regret we can not locate any information on you shipment as per your mail of January 22nd. As we do not have Galaxy Leader in our fleet list this shipment must have been transported by another carrier. Our office in Tokyo could unfortunately not confirm correct call sign and by checking the International Telecommunication Union, Galaxy Leader was not found on their lists either. (Ref. below link).
http://www.itu.int/cgi-bin/htsh/mars/ship_search.sh#start
Do you have a booking or B/L number so we could trace carrier - assume your MINI was coming out of Southampton?
If you could provide us with some more information we will do our utmost to assist you tracing the movements of your car. "
Now this does not instill a great deal of confindence . It was from their website that I got the information in the first place. I entered my VIN and tracked it the way we're supposed to. I can understand if the Galaxy Leader crew doesn't like to voluntarily report, but the fact that I can't find who operates this ship makes me wonder. Really, I found links that allowed me to check the fleet lists for 130 international shipping lines (yes, it took forever) and I never found a Galaxy Leader anywhere. Weird huh?
Sooooo, I've been tracking 9VIG and guessing that the Galaxy Leader is 6 days ahead. So I'm not exactly riding your coattails, more like riding the pressure wave in front of the Maersk Taiki! Galaxy Leader is due to dock in Port Hueneme on Feb 5th, so it's only 2 weeks away. The end is near!!!! stereo144 Jan 28th, 2004, 02:33 PM Can someone please help me figure out the call sign for the ship my MINI is on. I have been trying to figure it out for a couple days. I went to the coast guard site and stuff but when i search for "Patriot", I get a lot of results.
Here is the info:
Booking Number: GBSOU206586A
Bill Number: GB158348
Vessel: PATRIOT
Voyage: EB401-PAT
Port of Destination: CHARLESTON,SC
Any help would be appreciated :) Skatemom Jan 28th, 2004, 02:54 PM Re: Galaxy Leader
Updated info. WWL (W & W) emailed me this morning and said that the Galaxy Leader is a ship owned/operated by NYK LInes. I checked their site yesterday and it's a very secure site so I didn't get far and never found their fleet lists. Today I tried again and finally found it. YES! Galaxy Leader is their ship as are lots of other "Leader" vessels. In fact I was pleased to see it's NYK's newest (2002) ship. So at least I know my Audrey isn't on some "leaky tiki" boat from who knows where. She's cruising the seas on new equipment with some 5000 shipmates. :D Now if I only knew where, in what ocean, etc. Mini Momma Jan 28th, 2004, 03:13 PM Re: Galaxy Leader

Hooray for you Skate Mom. What patience and persistence. I feel spoiled that we know as much as we do about the Taiki. (Although I'm not currently extremely excited about what we know!) Your prize is an arrival that is not far off! Hang in there.

I looked through the list of "Patriots," and found 3 freight vessels: C6RQ7, WQVY, and 9HFXY. I could not find any of these call signs on the weather site. BUT, I also note that this boat is currently supposed to be somewhere between Georgia and South Carolina, according to the schedule on the WW site. So, it's not at sea anyway, and is probably one of the little red flags along the east coast of the US. Really nothing more to track... You're almost there!!! :D My boat (FREEDOM) is a few days behind yours... Skatemom Jan 28th, 2004, 03:37 PM Can someone please help me figure out the call sign for the ship my MINI is on. You're looking for a freight ship and 3 ships named Patriot are listed as freight ships. All are about 550-591 ft in length and are flagged as USA, Bahamas or Malta. I'd tend to go with the Malta ship 9HFX7 or the Bahamas ship (C6RQ7) Check for those call signs on oceanweather.com and see if either come out of the Southampton port area, heading west towards the USA. Good luck. Eric B Jan 28th, 2004, 03:40 PM Make sure you check the observation table rather than the map because it retains the last known location until the ship reports again, the map only shows the data for that last 6 hours
, and is probably one of the little red flags along the east coast of the U. I found out the red flags are buoys, the blue are ships and the "flag" part of the symbol is the wind speed and direction at the time they report AmRov Jan 28th, 2004, 03:46 PM Make sure you check the observation table rather than the map because it retains the last known location until the ship reports again, the map only shows the data for that last 6 hours
Yes, a good point. I always check the Obs Table first now; it's much easier than finding tiny numbers on the graphic screen. Alas, no sign of the call numbers we suspect belong to the Patriot -- but again, since it is probably close to the coast now (was supposed to dock in Georgia yesterday, so a bit behind), it may not be reporting in any more.... Hopefully, that's it!!
and thanks for the tip on the red flags; I had assumed they were docked ships... doh! stereo144 Jan 28th, 2004, 05:26 PM Thanks for all the help! I did see the 3 ships under the freight catagory, I just wasnt sure which one was mine :) I also noticed today that it doesn't say it has docked in Georgia yet :( Oh well. Bryan -- have you gotten any kind of estimate from the MINI Center in SA as to when you can expect delivery now? My car is supposed to hit Charleston on 2/2, and I'm hoping for delivery on 2/14 -- 12 days after discharge. Sound plausible? bryandixon Jan 28th, 2004, 06:50 PM Bryan -- have you gotten any kind of estimate from the MINI Center in SA as to when you can expect delivery now? 12 days sounds very plausible indeed, I have scoured this forum and most seem to say within 10 days. Faron at MINICenter thought easily within the first week or two of February.
This is worse than being in love, can't eat, can't sleep. (Maybe it is being in love, come to think about it.) Great news! I'm pretty excited. "Old" car now for sale... :p
A Valentine's Day delivery would be sweet indeed -- and yes, it's a lot like being in love! :D :D
Now the question is: How to get myself and hubby down there without having to drive back separately? Tempted to rent a car, take the bus ... something! I want him to enjoy the ride home with me!!! If we could trade in my car, that would work, but Faron has warned me that I will take a beating if I do... :( Mini Momma Jan 28th, 2004, 10:29 PM Ok Taiki'sters. Time for a group hug. Sigh. Hopefully the voyage will resume soon.

Did a google search under Maersk Taiki and I found us on a list of arrivals in Jacksonville, Florida. (Other interesting info turned up as well) Have been frantically searching for web cam but alas the only one is of the downtown and it is nighttime.
They advertise the port as a major car unloading port for the SE US. So, I guess some of our non-MINI shipmates are getting off here. Good to know the stop is now considered logical and probably taken into account in our arrival date. Weird it was not listed on the voyage, but maybe voyages are described by the furthest points.
Having trouble with pix during the week because they don't let me out of my cell when the sun is shining. Perhaps at lunch tomorrow.
Best of luck on the loan. I'm doing it next week.
MM AmRov Jan 29th, 2004, 02:25 AM Good spot on the Taiki, MM! Glad y'all are still on course. I assume the Freedom is kicking along, but apparently they're having way too much fun to bother to report in for the past DAY. *sigh* Just as well -- I will be in a seminar all day tomorrow, with no web access. A good thing at this point I think. ;) | |
