Feb-02-2004 12:00 7 24' N 83 30' W 9VIG kdudley Feb 2nd, 2004, 04:14 PM I finally got my MC on Saturday. I am more blown away than I expected and love it more every minute. All of you still waiting are really in for something special!!
The only hitch was I ordered the two spoke steering wheel and got the three spoke. I didn't say a thing because I was immediately sure it was my fault when I sent off my configuration. When I got home, I found out either the dealer or MINI made the mistake. NO PROBLEM. It's a bit of an ugly duckling, but it's lovely nonetheless and it's in my possession. Now I'm not sure I'd want the two spoke version...it's great having that huge horn in the middle. Reminds me a bit of the old MG steering wheels, but maybe after having too much to eat. Great all around.

Fantastic! I wonder what steering wheel I'll end up with as the 3 spoke was not an option when I ordered AmRov Feb 2nd, 2004, 04:29 PM From what I've gathered from several posts, the 3-spoke is the new default... I kind of like the 3-spoke; I have a 3-spoke in my car now, and I like it. :) Trina Feb 2nd, 2004, 04:32 PM Ok thanks to MINI Moma fior the pictures. I made an animated gif out of them:

Okay, Eric B and MM -
That is SOOO COOL!!! Wow! I'm a bit envious. I have to admit, I didn't follow my boat during it's voyage over. I looked for it a few times, but never found it at all, and kind of gave up. (I told myself it was "the sane" thing to do - ha!)
I'm really glad you guys have been able to track your boat the entire way so far, and the whole Panama Canal animation is Amazing!!!!
Congrats, and hang in there! Your MINIs will be with you very soon! :D trhjr Feb 2nd, 2004, 04:36 PM Yes, the Panama Canal animation is very cool!
The boat that my MINI was booked on set sail yesterday but it still says that my MINI has been "Received at Terminal." How long does it take for them to update to show that the car made it on the ship???
Also, can anyone fine the ATLANTIC BREEZE anywhere? I haven't had any luck...
Thanks!

Call sign appears to be 9VOL, but I did not see it in the Observation Table on the weather site. Don't despair; my boat (Freedom) rarely reported in.
My MINI showed up as loaded right away, but I've seen posts from others that said that it was up to a few days after the ship sailed before the cars were listed as "loaded." But also -- my MINI was originally booked on a different ship, and wasn't listed as "loaded" when it sailed. Finally, a few days later, I found out my MINI was booked on a different (and FASTER!) ship, and it was listed as loaded immediately after it sailed... so hard to say what has happened to yours! If you call Ask MINI, they will probably know for sure if you are loaded. Eric B Feb 2nd, 2004, 05:21 PM ...but I've seen posts from others that said that it was up to a few days after the ship sailed before the cars were listed as "loaded."
Yep, it was 4 or 5 days before mine showed up as loaded trhjr Feb 2nd, 2004, 05:30 PM Ok, thanks guys for your help!!! I feel much better now. Also, thanks for trying to find my ship, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing it.
-TH Mini Momma Feb 2nd, 2004, 06:31 PM Ok thanks to MINI Moma fior the pictures. I made an animated gif out of them:
Nice job Eric. You'll have to tell me how to put it in one file and upload it. For now, anyone who visits me at home is subjected to my slide show!!
Glad all those pictures stayed attached to the e-mail.
MM Mini Momma Feb 2nd, 2004, 07:51 PM Just spoke to the salesmanager at MINI of Murray. She said it has been taking 2 1/2 weeks to 3 weeks for the cars to get from CA to Salt Lake City.
Also found out that my digital camera may be terminal.
Guess I can use the time to get all my ducks in a row. But, they don't track car carriers... I will have to not know where Brodiea is for many days.
Sigh. Sigh. And sigh again.
May need another group hug.
:( :( :( :( :( AmRov Feb 2nd, 2004, 10:39 PM May need another group hug.
:( :( :( :( :(
BIG HUGS!!! Why are you picking up in Salt Lake City? Can't you kidnap it in California? Agh.
On the good news front -- Freedom docks in Charleston tomorrow! I'll be on the watch for the "unloaded" status. And then, I guess I lose track for a while... but at least Scooper will be on dry land again! :p :D :p Mini Momma Feb 2nd, 2004, 11:56 PM BIG HUGS!!! Why are you picking up in Salt Lake City? Can't you kidnap it in California?
California dealers tack on an extra $2500 or more and the wait is often longer. Decided to make an adventure out of it. But now, the wait seems endless...
I've gone so "overboard" on this already. Perhaps I'll just follow the car carrier to Utah. Can you see the billing language... "Client development: participate in extensive cross-country continuing education regarding cutting edge auto technology."
I still think you should meet the ship! :p AmRov Feb 3rd, 2004, 02:05 AM I still think you should meet the ship! :p
Quite tempting! ;) I would actually love to see what they do with those MINIs when they take them off the boat... *sigh*
At least you have a cool road trip to look forward to! Have you started preparing your music for the ride home? stereo144 Feb 4th, 2004, 01:21 AM Someone please help me out on this. The WW site never said my car was unloaded but the ship already arrived and departed from South Carolina so I figure thats just a computer error. I talked to my MA and he said that according to his records my car, which was supposed to unload on 1/29, unloaded on 2/1 and it should be at the dealer around 2/10. I just talked to a rep at ASK MINI and he assured me that my car was about to leave the VPC and it should get on a train and arrive on my dealer on 2/5. That seems a little fast. My MA said their records aren't always accurate. Maybe the dealers records were wrong and the car actually unloaded when it was supposed to, (1/29) which would'nt make its 2/5 arrival at the dealer too impossible. By the way, the Owner's Lounge says I'm still en route and under it has a delivery date of 2/5, but I was under the impression that that 2/5 date reffered to delivery to the VPC. Sorry for the long post. Hopefully it wasn't too confusing. I'm just looking for some feedback from someone who knows what they are talking about :) Just trying to figure out what/who to believe! Thanks for any help in advance! burderer Feb 4th, 2004, 01:49 AM For all you Maersk Taiki folk out there, aren't you glad that your baby is on a nice big safe ship instead of a cargo trailer attempting to cross the Atlantic/Pacific like this:
:D AmRov Feb 4th, 2004, 01:59 AM Then, I go to my favorite MINI board and it is gone! Yikes. Alone in the world with no MINI friends. MM
B I G H U G S!!! What a bummer day. My husband and I went through a similar experience when buying our current house this past summer -- dream house, and then 3 days before closing, our mortgage co. suddenly "finds" a bad (erroneous) credit report. Angels smiled on us, though, and we got it taken off with a personal letter from the creditor. Perhaps some kind of letter from the mortgage co. could help -- especially if they contact the credit bureau PERSONALLY, like our creditor did... ??
*emitting positive vibes*
:(
P.S.: I note that you traveled into the future, too, as your posting is showing up as occurring hours after mine, yet I'm responding to you! do do dooo do, do do doo do... AmRov Feb 4th, 2004, 02:04 AM Just trying to figure out what/who to believe! Thanks for any help in advance!
Speaking of course from absolutely no experience in actually taking delivery (yet), and pretty much just guessing here, what I think is that the Ask MINI folks know best. Websites are often not updated. My car is listed as "unloaded" in Charleston as of today (as expected), but the MINI owner's lounge shows "en route" with no delivery date estimate. Seems this information stuff is pretty much hit or miss.
I say -- relax (!) and prepare to enjoy your MINI as soon as THIS WEEKEND!!! :D Or early next week... or ... whenever, but soon, and for the rest of ... well, a long time! ;) AmRov Feb 4th, 2004, 02:08 AM Just had to share my enthusiasm... my MINI is listed as "unloaded." Now I just have to endure the information vacuum for who knows how long... but hopefully, SCOOPER will be coming home on Valentine's Day! *hope hope hope* :p Q-Man Feb 4th, 2004, 02:48 AM My MCS is sailing the high seas on the Takasago with a scheduled landing in NY on 2/11. Anyone else on this ship? Call sign is LACR5 but I haven't checked if its on the weather sites yet. Eric B Feb 4th, 2004, 03:08 AM Sorry to hear MM, it will all work out even if you have to refinance in a few months. Hang tough stereo144 Feb 4th, 2004, 03:24 AM Thanks for the reply AmRov :) I am hoping the ASK MINI rep was right. He seemed pretty sure of himself. I guess I'll find out in a couple days! stereo144 Feb 4th, 2004, 03:31 AM Just checked the owners lounge and it has changed to at distribution center with the EDD still at 2/5 so I think the ASK MINI rep was right! This is exciting! tavis1 Feb 4th, 2004, 06:27 AM MINI MOMMA, so sorry to hear about your troubles (big hug from Bakersfield). I do have some good news however for you and ERIC. My MA from Long Beach MINI called me today to tell me my "MCS will be here in a couple of weeks, and it will either be on the 5 boat or the 8 boat"
I asked "what do you mean the 5 boat or the 8 boat?"
"There is two ships comming in, one on the 5th and one on the 8th"
I then said "Mine is on the Maersk Taiki"
"That would be the 8th boat"
"Really? There web site said the 11th."
"Well, we just got word in today about the two ships and when they arrive,"
"How long will it be at the VDC?"
"About a week to a week and a half."
I then let out an insane laugh and thanked him for calling. Looks like our ship will be early. :D MINI MOMMA I so hope everything work out with you, I will be praying for you. :)
Tavis1 :red: Eric B Feb 4th, 2004, 07:19 AM ...I then said "Mine is on the Maersk Taiki"

Wooooooooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Very nice to hear. Mini Momma Feb 4th, 2004, 07:32 AM Gosh. Things got a bit bumpy in the last 24 hours. At least Brodiea is truly on the Pacific and on the Pacific Map as well.
BUT, had a very unpleasant surprise when I thought I would sail through new car loans and got turned down 3 times. After a very long story, and hours on the phone I found out that when I sold my house recently, the mortgage company reported the transaction as a "settlement" rather than "paid in full" which it was. Everyone is VERY APOLOGETIC and trying to fix it but bottom line, my FICO SCORE dropped 100+ points and good interest rates are gone. Can't be fixed in less than 30 days. As a hard working, bill paying single woman I am more than outraged. I'm really p'ed off.
Then, I go to my favorite MINI board and it is gone! Yikes. Alone in the world with no MINI friends.
The board finally comes back up and wouldn't you know it, my work's Internet connection goes down. So I have cut my losses, come home to work and just need to vent for a minute.
I'm sure it will come out ok, but this loan business has me steamed. Not one late payment in 30 years of credit and I'm the victim of someone's error that will really mess me up for now.
MM
Arghh...The site unsubscribed me from this thread and the time of posting is about eight hours into the future. Going under the covers now.
What next...due to my lost in the future status, the board won't let me reply to posts. Says I can only post once every 30 seconds. Someone please tell an administrator to rescue me if I remain lost in this time wrinkle. Good grief. AmRov Feb 4th, 2004, 01:34 PM Just checked the owners lounge and it has changed to at distribution center with the EDD still at 2/5 so I think the ASK MINI rep was right! This is exciting!
Yay! Glad to see a fellow Central Texan is going MINI very soon! I hope Faron treats you right -- please come back and post again and let us know how delivery went! (After you've had some private time with your new baby, of course... ;) ) AmRov Feb 4th, 2004, 01:40 PM I called Ask MINI today, to try to get an estimated delivery date, and I was told that once the car is off the boat, they can't track it any more, and I have to get that info only from my dealer. What's up with that? Stereo144 -- I thought you got info from them and also from the Owner's Lounge? I've pinged Faron via email, but so far, no response. I guess I'll have to be patient (ugh) and just wait to hear from him... bryandixon Feb 4th, 2004, 01:54 PM I I've pinged Faron via email, but so far, no response. Faron is sometimes slow to respond to email, one of us may need to call him if you don't hear anything by some reasonable time.

Do you have a delivery date yet? You are a week ahead of me, right? | |
