Wow -- congrats on the honeymoon!!! :) Eric B Feb 6th, 2004, 02:37 PM I need to see the ship myself. I am on a business trip and can't constantly monitor things :( I have not seen the little blue "flag" in 2 days :( :( :( AmRov Feb 6th, 2004, 02:45 PM I have a (potential) buyer for my current car (2001 X5). Although I am not regretting my decision to sell it to make room for my MCS, I am still a bit sad that she's leaving... she's out being inspected now, so I switched cars with the driver. I was quite disturbed to learn that he doesn't exactly take great care of his car (BMW 540). The "inspection" light was on, the airbag light was on, and there's trash everywhere. Sure, it has over 100,000 miles on it, but still! I want my car to go to a nice home!
I woke up early this morning fretting over both cars... I want my MCS to hurry up and get home, but I will miss my X5 more than I thought I would! :( :) :( :) Mini Momma Feb 6th, 2004, 08:35 PM I have a (potential) buyer for my current car (2001 X5). Maybe you can take my approach. Keep them all!! Or, wait until good karma puts the right person for your old car on your doorstep. You will know them when you see them.

Currently AWOL again, but I rationalize that they are in such familiar waters, they don't worry about where they are too much. Sunday might be the day? It's all I can do not to climb in the car and head for the port.
Wish we could go on the Las Vegas run. Doesn't that sound like fun?
MM trhjr Feb 6th, 2004, 08:47 PM I agree with you MM, my ship has been at sea for almost a week and has not reported once that I have seen. I hope that it hits some good winds and gets here bit quicker than anticipated! What's the normal travel time from England to the Panama Canal? Just wondering...

Our ship stopped in Jacksonville, FL for a day and a half and then went on through the canal. I think it was about two weeks from England to the canal. Did you see our cool canal animation about five pages back in the posts? It's worth watching for your ship. Really fun and exciting.
MM Mini Momma Feb 7th, 2004, 12:29 AM Taikisters!!!!!!
We are half way up the coast of Baja. Brodiea is seeing things that I have seen now. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
OH OH OH OH. It is getting so real.
All this has been abstract until now. I can barely stand it.
Time to go GA GA like the Texans. Who are probably blissed out at this point.

Tavis1 :red: Q-Man Feb 7th, 2004, 12:08 PM For all of you on the Takasago she reported in at Feb-07-2004 00:00 45 24' N 25 12' W LACR5. Reported winds at 24 knots, no wave height reported. At 25 W we've only got a little more than 1/8 of the earth to go to get to NY. I know there are 197 MINIs under our booking number heading to NY. Anyone on the Takasago headed to Charleston? stereo144 Feb 7th, 2004, 02:22 PM I got "the call" yesterday and I'm picking it up in 6 hours!!!! I went and saw it and its perfect! Nothing missing or anything like that :) I'll post pics as soon as I can! By the way, it unloaded in SC on 2/1 and it got to my dealer in TX on 2/5, so it looks like they are moving pretty fast! Good luck to all of you who are waiting! Mini Momma Feb 7th, 2004, 04:03 PM I got "the call" yesterday and I'm picking it up in 6 hours!!!! I went and saw it and its perfect! To keep your feet on the ground for the next six hours or so. I can see you floating. Enjoy every minute!

I think this might be a sign that I've gone over the line.
Was standing in Trader Joe's in a long line and the other people in lines struck up a conversation. We're chatting and one nice man suddenly said what I thought was, "I should have brought my MINI." Well, I was off and running.
I gave a speech about Brodiea who was arriving in 2-3 weeks, was somewhere near Tiajuana, and who I watched go through the Panama Canal, etc. etc. It was quite a speech.
A number of people stared at me wtih blank faces. The man said, "I said I should have brought my knitting." "Oh," said I. One nice woman said, "I heard MINIs are very nice cars." "Ah, yes," said I. "You can see I'm a little excited about it." Pink-cheeked, I chose "paper," got the groceries and bolted for the door.
Decided I need to calm down a bit.
MM Eric B Feb 8th, 2004, 02:41 AM Here I sit in a hotel in Minneapolis with very linmited internet access. And every time I check, no little blue flag..... sigh So Tomorrow may be the day huh??? Cooooooooool I'll have better net access on monday when I am in St Louis at work.
Bye all. tavis1 Feb 8th, 2004, 05:17 AM :o :o :o :o :o :o

LOL !!!!!! big time! I feel ya. Every time I see the word mini I think "Hows that associated with my car?" Just for example: Driving down the road I see a sign : Dearrals Mini storage, and I think (for a split second) "thats where they store MINI's" Do I seem crazy? Do you know what I mean? Should I get intence Phyco therapy? I have MINIphycosis bad. Does anybody else suffer from this "it's all most here" syndrome?

Tavis,
Given the lack of blue flags on the map. We may need to assign you a field trip to check on these new babies landing on the west coast. Bakersfield is not too far? LOL. Don't know how we are going to know what's happening at this point.

OH, yeah... losing sleep now. Agh! AmRov Feb 8th, 2004, 05:44 PM Oh, my... Interesting story! Yes, this car certainly seems to breed excitement and anticipation! I've special ordered 3 other cars, but none have generated such anxiety and impatience! :p My work buddies get the daily update, and they've been soo patient, bless their hearts...
Made my MINI Mix CD this weekend. Full of good driving songs, for my 80-mile ride home next Saturday! Wheeeee!!! :D :D Eric B Feb 8th, 2004, 11:55 PM I know what you mean. No change in status on the WW wesbsite, nor the owner's lounge. I think the blue flags are gone for good. An exercise in patience. I can't recall from our predecessors where "unloaded" shows up first and when.
Hope you are having a nice trip.
MM Q-Man Feb 9th, 2004, 02:16 AM The TAKASAGO's latest report shows her a bit past halfway:

but they are really taking a beating, 41 knot winds and 26 ft waves. :( tavis1 Feb 9th, 2004, 05:37 AM I know what you mean. I have MINI feve too, I see the word MINI all the time when I used to never notice it. (Mini M-n-Ms even lol) So ayone discover if the ship docked today?
I spent the whole morning looking at the WW, Weather, Port Hueneme, owners lounge sites and all 22 Maersk Taiki hits on Yahoo-------------------- nothing. What is kind of creepy was on Yahoo one site was labeled MINI2 Forums subtitled Maersk Taiki. I clicked on it and it wasn't MINI2 per say but, like a transcript of this whole thread.

We had some really windy days late last week here in Boston, and I thought (unfortunately) we might see TAKASAGO get hit with them....oh well, it's calmed down considerably here now, in fact it's due to be near 40° F all week, and calm, so hopefully she'll make it in by the 11th as planned! AmRov Feb 9th, 2004, 01:05 PM I can't recall from our predecessors where "unloaded" shows up first and when. MM
My car showed up as "discharged" the day it was discharged (I checked around 7:00 p.m. Charleston time on the day it was to be done, and it was listed as "dischargd.").
It was several more days before Ask-MINI and the Owner's Lounge caught up.
Interestingly, Ask-MINI started saying that my car was "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." Perhaps they use that message for boats AND for the trucks that ship them over land...
Delivery due -- tomorrow! (But I don't take her home until Sat.).
Being in an info vacuum is a hard wait, I know... agh -- especially after having SOME info almost daily for weeks! Given that I was sane and only checked the owner's lounge about 2-3 times per week before Brodiea was "born," I don't know anything about calling people (except the dealer) or what "ask MINI" is. At the risk of getting no work done today at all, could you tell me the other sources of info that are out there? :p
SCOOPER is nearly on his/her home ground. How wonderful! :D
MM Eric B Feb 9th, 2004, 04:01 PM Ask mini is 1-866-ask-mini. You can get an automated update or talk to a rep. Unfortunatly once they have shipped, they have very limited information. Call 1-866-Ask-MINI. You will be greeted by a computer (voice done by 20-ish California boy, in my estimation). Say "vehicle production status" and be prepared to say the last 7 chars of your VIN to find out what their computer knows. Say "customer service" and speak wit a LIVE person. I was told that once it's off the boat, they have no more info and you should call the dealer. But Stereo144 found someone who was more helpful and he learned his delivery date from them.
SCOOPER is nearly on his/her home ground. How wonderful! :D MM
YEAH, it is!
Happy searching! It's cold and rainy here today (AGAIN -- what is this, Oregon?? I endure 100+ degrees all summer to avoid that! agh), so my anticipation is only that much stronger! Mini Momma Feb 9th, 2004, 07:03 PM Ok, Taikisters, here's my approach: (it keeps changing and so does this message LOL)
I figure you can't trust the track cargo info, as it took days to show we were loaded after the ship left. You can't trust owner's lounge because it is always very slow. We seem to have fallen off the ocean tracking map, which probably means we are docked or in line to be docked somewhere.
I sent the dealer an e-mail, so I'm waiting on that... let me know if your dealers know anything!
I think the best guide is the status of voyage on WW. It showed that our ship had sailed from Southampton way before I even expected it to have been loaded, so that seems to be updated pretty quick. That's what I'm watching. If we can figure out the next voyage for the Taiki and watch when it sails, HOPEFULLY, it means our MINIs our unloaded.
BUT I just finished searching the WW website and the Taiki is not listed in the future for any voyages from Port Hueneme. Seems the Taiki does whatever it wants, a little jaunt through Jacksonville, ho hum... The other voyages show a list of cities that turn red once the ship arrives and leaves. I'll just watch for Port H. to turn red...
Or, I may just get in the car and go check myself. What do you think Tavis?
This requires the same sort of meditative patience as dealing with the FICO people.
