Open one? Noooo..... but attend one? I'll be there! The local groups are having a "track day" in July, with about 20 instructors scheduled to attend. I'll be all over that! :D Wish y'all weren't sooo far away! :(

My brothers are totally in to it. And after mocking them for 30 years, I have to keep a low profile for a while before they find out I'm doing it too!! :D

Chicago is a little farther than Boston, from NY/NJ, so it's curious that we're getting the same EDD...eh? Good luck!

The EDD is more than likely a big swag on MINIs part and dealers within a certain radius are given a given date based on arrival to the VDC. In real on highway time I'd bet Boston and Chicago aren't more than a day apart for trucking a load of cars in. Then again maybe they know how much I want my MINI and they are using FedEx to ship her to my dealer. :p

I SAW MY MCS TODAY!!!!!!!!!! This morning the Missis and I were laying in bed and I said I want to go to LB MINI today and pick up the chrome grill and she said OK.
We took off at 1:00 PM and got to LB at 3:30. As we pulled into the parking lot we noticed a very fresh arrival of MC and MCS'. Then i saw the back of her. I said to my wife "That looks like it could be our MINI"
She said "How can you tell?"
"well it's a red MCS with white rims" We bolted to the bathrooms and didn't have time to look. We came back outside to get a closer look and stuck behind the winshield wiper was a piece of paper with "This MINI Cooper S belongs to Dahlke"----- My last name. I let out a big hollar and jumped a mile high. I ran real quick to get the grill before the parts counter closed at 4:00PM. After we got the Grill the wife and I took pictures (convential cammera, sorry) Then I noticed the rear fogs are missing and they were supposed to be fitted at the factory. I brought this to there attention plus made an apointment for the alarm. They said it will be taken care of..... lets hope so. then I met AUTHIMINI, He was picking his MCS up. He seemed to be a very nice gentalman and we talked a little bit and he took a picture of the Missis and I and our "baby".
I got to touch her, the bonnet, mirror, door handle and I patted her boot and told her we will be back next Saturday to take her home. This is going to be the longest frickin week of my life!
So MM and Eric your MINI's are on there way!!!!!!!!!! They are out of the VDC!

Tavis1: I am picking up my MC at LB MINI too! How long did you have to wait for it to get from the VDC to the dealer? Just curious? Also, are they fitting your alarm before you take her home or do you have to go back?

The ship pulled in on the 8th and my MCS just got there the morning of the day I say her from the VDC on the 14th. About the Alarm, when I talked to them that Saturday I was first told I had to do the paper work first before they could do anything to the car. I then explained to them I live 2 1/2 hours away and really like to make only one trip. They said they would try to get it done this week and if not scheduled a back up appointment on Saturday. Monday I got a call from Anthony telling me they ran out of Alarms and there on back order. They said they might get some this week and he would keep me posted. I doubt it highly that they can get parts from England in less than a weeks time however. If they do I will be very impressed. It wouldn't be that big of a deal except it is a long drive and I HATE THE 405 TRAFFIC !!! I will keep you posted on what happens. When is your MINI due in?

LOL!!!! After the wait we had to endure I think even a saint would break the law. I don't plan on breaking the law but, I know it's going to happen espeacialy listening to the custum IJ soundtrack I made. :D

Well, it wasn't entirely voluntary. If you drive the speed limit on the 405, you'll be run down and squashed flat by everything from semis to Geo Metros. LA drivers are like Italians - if there's open road in front of them, they take maximum advantage of it. Except Italians will also use sidewalks, which is only an occasional thing in L.A.

Oh thats right you travel from LB south. I travel LB north. If you drive farther north (I'm sure you have) the 405 turns into a parking lot. Did you get my PM with the Email address?

What fun! I wish we had roads here where I could cruise on.... mostly now I'm just terribly frustrated in my new MINI, stuck behind slow, slow, slow drivers who can't even drive the speed limit (read: speed minimum ;)).

This morning, though, I did get to enjoy the very rare benefit of opening her up on the twisty/hilly 2-mile road from my subdivision to the highway -- doing about 60+ in zones rated for 35 mph (for "ordinary cars"). And even then, I wasn't even CLOSE to pushing it... and then I caught up to someone and had to behave myself. *sigh* Fun while it lasted!! :D

Sigh.... I want my car :) :) :) :)

My dealer called today and my LY/W MCS arrived last night. I'll be picking her up after work on Monday :D I'd push for Saturday but I've got a few things being installed and I'm tied up most of the day myself. Unfortunately in IL dealers are closed on Sunday by law. :mad: Oh well, at least it should be a fairly stress free event. I sold my old car (its a truck actually) yesterday, financing is all set, and I've already got the insurance and everything all worked out. I don't think I was this ready for my first born! (actually nobody's ready for that even if they think they are). :p See you all soon in the new owners thread.
BTW I ordered Jan 9th - almost exactly 6 weeks from order to delivery, I don't think it goes much faster than that.

Q-Man, how's yours? Arrived safely at the dealer, but am waiting for the new hangars for my Works kit install....should find out more shortly as to its official pickup date. I may make March after all :D

Ok I just got the word that my car will be delivered to the dealer today :D however the prep dept is closed for the weekend :( so it is looking like a Wednesday pickup for me :)
