1-866-ASK-MINI-- Status changed from "Scheduled for Production" to "In Production"
Yipee Skipee!!!!
Congrates!! Mine went from "on order" to "in production" about week and a half ago. It skiped the "scheduled for production" part. Still Jan 11th also. This is great news and I am happy for you. Our cars will have the same "born on date".

I checked my MCS status tonight - it's "in production" with an estimated completion date of January 8. I'm having a Merry Christmas!

I ordered my BRG MC on Dec. 1 from Motor City Mini in Detroit. They said I'd make it into production in late January. I contacted them last week to see if I could change my spec to include the "Cold" package and get a production number, and found out they were already working on my car! Estimated completion date of Jan. 5. It's in "painting" today.

I'll miss getting my last minute option change in (heck, it's only Winter 5 months out of the year in Nothern Ohio), but I'm thrilled I somehow got bumped forward in the queu. I was certain I'd be picking up my car in February.

Congrats, you should check with the dealer to see if you can get the Cold package retofitted.

Good luck with your new ride.

I guess it's atrociously expensive to retrofit this stuff. I could just "donate" the car to the dealer and re-order without financial penalty, but I'm sticking with it because I REALLY need the new car ASAP. I'd love to go for a Pepper White Cooper S in about 18 mos. Time/financial constraints kept me from going for the S this time around. I'm also anxious to see these convertibles this Summer.

That being said, I'm looking forward to hearing about your impressions of the Cooper S versus your Cooper after you've had a bit of time to settle with it!!

Well it couldn't hurt to find out, especially if you tell them it is what you really wanted, they might be able to work a deal out.

Yeah it took me 90 minutes to decide on Liquid Yellow or Pepper White. After having my sales advisor go through his last 100 sales and see how many LY or PW cars he sold. He sold like 3 PW to 7 LY out of 100. I wanted the one that not a lot of people have, so I went with Pepper White, and I am glad I did.

As far as driving, I love the S and the way it feels. I wanted to get back into a car that had a manual transmission, something I had been missing since I gave up my last vehicle with a 5 speed. The standard Cooper which I have now, with the CVT, is a great car and I am going to miss it dearly (especially in Boston Traffic). It is great and fun to tool around with in Boston (tight turns, narrow twisty streets...YEAH :D ), and I know I can fit in any parking space there is.

The reason I am going for an S, is I was finding myself starting to put performance upgrades in the car. After mapping out those upgrades, to do what I wanted was going to cost several grand. So instead of putting in a few grand of performance parts, I decided to upgrade (Something I planned on doing around '05, but I was able to wrangle the cash now).

I can't wait for Angus... :whblack:

I hope that everyone had a great holiday!!!

I just called ASK-MINI again today and my car is still "scheduled for production with no confirmed production date" but when I talked to a MA they told me that my estimated production date is January 5th and online it still says "on order." Does anyone else notice that their systems do not all update at the same time?

I have the same thing right now too, I wonder if due to the holiday if stuff hasn't been updated. Mine went from the ASK-Mini, from on order to scheduled for production with no date given. I would try again in a day or two, of if you just used the automatted system, call back and talk to an operator.

Hi,
I've been lurking around alot, and this is my first post, but i ordered a Dark Silver/White S. It's in the "Paint Shop" with a scheduled completion of Jan 5th. Now, it's been in the paint shop for 5 days, but in the production process, says that the painting is a 10 hour process. So much for the automated phone service being up to date.

My biggest worries now are a bunch of english gentelmen going out tonight for new years, having way too many pints and showing up tomorrow to work on building my car

So if done on the 5th, whats the probability of getting on the 1/7/2004 ship ?

Hi jfeniello,

I'm in the same boat. Six days of "paint shop" so far, scheduled completion on Jan. 5. Is Michelangelo Buonarroti painting our cars?

If everyone is on holiday at the plant, I don't see how they can get these cars all the way finished on Friday and Monday. My hope it's simply Ask Mini that isn't being tended to and our cars are moving along. Does anyone know anything about the work schedule, shifts, etc.? I guess we'll know for sure something's wrong if we call next Tuesday and hear we're still in the paint shop.

I wish my car would move past the "In production" state (been since 12/17) but probably the same situation, the info is not being updated

How do I find out what part of production my car is in (like "paint shop")? Do you have to speak to a customer service rep at ASK MINI? When I call I just use the automated system and all it says is that my car is in production.

I talk to a rep. Everyday I call a get "vehicle production status" just to here that it is being made. Then once a week I talk to a rep to find where it is in production. The last time I called they said that they have the same imformation that the automated had. I told them all it says is that it is in production and I wanted to to know where its at. Thats when he told me the body has been made and waiting for paint.

I called and my car is "In Production: Start" which means they have not started it but it should be done by 1/11 so looks like the 17/01/2004 MAERSK TAIKI voyage for me (I hope)

Any west coast folks know how long to get from the ship to a dealer in Oregon?

I really should be more patient then this but July - Feb is a long wait ;)

Hi, everyone --

How can I find out if I'm in the January build? I received my production number in early December (PW/PW S, sport, Cordoba beige leather and all the bells & whistles). I was told delivery would be ca. Feb. 2004, so shouldn't I be in the January build too? A call to the 1-800 number (listed on this site's FAQ's) told me my car is "scheduled for production," but didn't give me a date. Do I need to call the dealer?

I received my production number in mid-December and the Owner's website plus a call to ASK MINI shows my car is still "on order." I can't tell if I'll be a January or February production model but Long Beach MINI told me to expect the car by mid-March.

My guess is you're a Jan production. My car was a December production, (built mid-month) and I think I'll get it early Feb (I'm in Northern Cal).

Have you tried calling ASK MINI, and speaking with a rep? They can usually tell you more details than the automated service, or the Owners Lounge.

Congrats!
