: Any stereo pros out there?

Okay, I've owned my MINI for 6 days now and one glaring issue needs to be addressed - I NEED a cassette player! (Audiobook addicted)

I am wondering if there is a decent cd/cassette combo that fits the MINI?
AND - if I buy aftermarket - do I have to lose the stereo controls in the steering wheel?

Has anyone else solved this dilemma?

Any head unit will fit - if you take a look in the Interior and Ice section, you will see this topic covered, or use the search function ! ;)

See this link............

If you check there, you will see Mikey has adaptors which will allow you to retain use of the steering wheel controls ! :)

MINI makes a cassette head unit. You didn't order it?

Anyway, if you're really into audio books, you could probably get an iPod and download audio books off the iTunes Music Store and use the Aux adapter for slightly more then it'd cost to have a professional installation of a cassette head unit, ($299 for iPod + $40 for adapter)

Its probably easiest to just find a MINI cassette and put that in, but wait until mikey replies, since as Aiden has said, he's certainly the expert.

Buy books on cd instead! :D

I second this notion. I just started buying books on CD, and even better the iTunes music store just added large quantities of them as digital downloads for less than the cost of the CD. I drop it on my iPod and I'm good to go with several audio books that fit in my front shirt pocket.

Get the Blitzsafe Aux adapter with a walkman and feed the audio in that way. you can use the Aux for any audio input.

If I were you I would either do the aux adapter and hook up your "tape walkman" to it, or get an FM modulator if you are too lazy to install the aux adapter. (depends if you have an 04 model the aux is already installed in the glove box.
