: Where are the Minnesota Minis? Pippin Jan 22nd, 2004, 04:11 PM I ordered my Mini a couple of weeks ago. I live in Burnsville which is a suburb of Minnesota, USA. Since I ordered it I have been watching to see another one on the rode. In 2 weeks I have yet to see one. Will I be the only one? I bought a ChiliRed that will really stand out. The only Mini I get to look at is my little diecast Mini I have sitting by my computer. I am from Iowa originally and they don't even have a mini dealership there. I was going to tell my Dad who lives in Iowa that I ordered one, but I thought it might be too hard to explain it to him. I'll wait till it shows up. He would probably say "You ordered what? Never heard of it!" He never has seen The Italian Job. Which to be honest, until I saw it, I too have never heard of a Mini. Guess I am too secluded in Minnesota. If there are any Minnesota Minis out there, please say Hi so I know belong. ;-< :red: Andrea/Pippin NEMINI Jan 22nd, 2004, 04:14 PM moved to the midwest forum where you might find more people ;) TMini Feb 1st, 2004, 07:06 PM Hi Pippin - I live in St. Paul and am also waiting for my MINI. I take delivery this Wednesday...can't wait. In the cities I have seen MINI's on a pretty regular basis but by no means alot of them. One of the people at Motorwerks Mini at Southdale told me they were one of the top selling dealerships so I'll bet you'll start seeing more...especially this summer.
Anyway, there is the Mini-sota minis club
http://www.mini-sota.com/
although this is almost all classic Mini owners they look like a fun bunch and I would imagine the number of new MINI owning members will continue to grow...I'll probably join this spring.
I went to peak at my car (BR Greeen MCS) this week at the BMW dealer ship where it is being prepped and I saw a shiny new Red MINI pulling out...a beatiful car indeed...when do you take delivery?
It's funny you mention the Italian Job...although I had driven an original Mini many years ago when I lived in the UK and was well aware of the new one it was watching this movie that led me to a test drive and to then figuring out how to get one...I wonder how many others were directly inspired by the movie to get a MINI???
Tom mschultz Feb 24th, 2004, 04:29 AM I'm a White Bear-ite working idown by Loring. Depending on the next arm wrestling match between my wife and I (Iswear she cheats! Uses that mildly patient and disappointed look) I will be ordering in the near future. I am hoping for an April delivery, although it may get pushed to May... this week is the cutoff for April, I believe. :(
I, also have been watching for any mini's on the roads, and I can't believe that many people parked theirs over the winter! I took another test drive the other day, and the handling in the snow with DSC turned on was amazing! What are these people driving, their winter SUV's?
Oh well. Water is dripping outside, so it can't be long now.
Going with BRG/W, bonnet stripes... MCS (and still seriously considering the JCW, although I can't quite justify it )
Nice to know there are some nearby mini-acs! B'n'BCustoms Mar 7th, 2004, 08:25 AM Since this looks like people replying on this thread are from the inconsistent fair weather climate of Minneapolis Minnesota, I was wondering if you guys could be some help. Tom, you seem to be very informed about all of the Mini things with the Twin Cities and I was wondering if anyone know where I can get my hands on a 68-75 Mini that needs to either be fully restored or partially restored. It can be either a right or left side drive and doesn't matter whether or not it is a "S" or not. Hopefully for a mildly cheap price! If you know how I could obtain one from either a private party or a company here locally in the Twin Cities please drop be a line. Either PM me or Drop me an email Rossingnal@aol.com
Thanks, Brian/B'n'BCustoms! TMini Mar 8th, 2004, 04:07 AM Going with BRG/W, bonnet stripes... MCS (and still seriously considering the JCW, although I can't quite justify it )

Nice choice with the BRG...have you ordered yet? Don't forget to have them do a search at other dealers for the car you want...I got mine in two weeks.. :D

Changed my name when I realized the new MINI was going to be called "puck"... seemed impish and appropriate!:)
Yes, I have ordered, although the day I went in to order they had ALMOST the exact car... no bonnet stripes though:rolleyes:
My wife couldn't beleive that I couldn't wait an extra couple weeks:eek:, but she convinced me with the fact that the car I ordered is going to be exactly what I ordered.
Supposedly get it sometime in April.:D:D puck Mar 9th, 2004, 03:35 AM I ordered my Mini a couple of weeks ago. I live in Burnsville which is a suburb of Minnesota, USA. If there are any Minnesota Minis out there, please say Hi so I know belong. ;-< :red: Andrea/Pippin
A suburb of Minnesota? I suppose in reference to Brits it makes sense;)
I mentioned in another thread that I'm thinking of taking the Intro to Autocross class that MINI-Sota Minis is having at Dunwoody and the Saints' stadium parking lot in mid-April. I probably won't have my MCS by then, but I'm intrigued to see what it's about.
If either you or TMini are interested let me know:)

Heh. Didn't realize puck==mschultz until now. Though I did notice the spec and loc resemblance. Good name. puck Mar 9th, 2004, 02:18 PM Heh. Didn't realize puck==mschultz until now. Though I did notice the spec and loc resemblance. Good name.
It was one of those mis-heard things. My wife, Gail, said something about getting the "pug", I thought she said "puck" and there we were.
You never know where the right name is going to come from. :)
And "mschultz" is just too much to type! puck Mar 23rd, 2004, 09:28 PM Well... car is waiting at the station for it's ride to the coast to hop on a boat to get on a truck to get to me. :D shanemcr Mar 24th, 2004, 12:59 AM It was one of those mis-heard things. Wait, no... You don' t have a pug, do you? Or was she referring to the MINI? [I do think MINIs are quite pug-like] puck Mar 24th, 2004, 01:13 AM Wait, no... You don' t have a pug, do you? Or was she referring to the MINI? [I do think MINIs are quite pug-like]

Yeah, but let's face it. If you limit this thread to only MINI-sotans it'll be an awfully lonely group. :D puck Mar 24th, 2004, 02:42 AM Yeah, but let's face it. If you limit this thread to only MINI-sotans it'll be an awfully lonely group. :D
No kidding... I feel a little let down by the MN contingent. They're mostly chatting in the owners lounge, but I hate how the threading is arranged in there. :p Pippin Mar 26th, 2004, 03:06 AM So excited. She is a blast to drive and quite adorable. Congratulations indeed! Great news... and even better news that you feel that happy driving her. :)
By the way, what school district is that? I work with schools districts all around the Twin Cities.
Just curious. If I happen to be out where ever you are I promise I'd stop and pay my respects... and I'd say hi to you as well. :D TMini Mar 26th, 2004, 08:38 PM Congrats pipin!!! She's a beauty!
Finally saw another BRG w/W bonnett stripes driving down 35W at the intersection of 494 at about 1:15. Don't suppose that was anyone here?

Hi Puck, funny enough a work mate gave me some info on this same event which I beleive is not just a MINI event but a general Autocross event. I was debating whether or not to ask the wife if I could burn a weekend learning to race the MINI so I think I'll "pop the question" tonight...wish me luck...I'll let you know.

If you're going to pop THAT question, then I'd say definitely go for the one-knee maneuver. ;)
Let me know if you're going to do the class. To be honest, next week I find out if I will have my license during that period (um... oops), but if I do, I would, I think. If you know what I mean. TMini Mar 26th, 2004, 09:07 PM If you're going to pop THAT question, then I'd say definitely go for the one-knee maneuver. ;)

I was just reminded that this same weekend I'm going to be at my nephews wedding in Rochester, oh well, guess I'll have to learn to race the MINI on my own, while trying to keep my license active that is...got my first speeding ticket with only 319 mi. on the MINI...got a radar detector two days later and since then I've been OK...fingers crossed. :D

Burnsville - besides being a wedding photographer on weekends, I drive a special ed bus (82) during the week. So far I am the only CR/W in Burnsville that I know of. In fact I can go a couple of weeks without even seeing an Minis. Lots of buses though :-> puck Mar 27th, 2004, 01:55 PM A photographer? And only one shot in your gallery? And the last couple days were beautiful!
Come on... we all know you're dying to have a photo session ;) stellardude Mar 30th, 2004, 07:32 AM in brooklyn park minnesota - 5 minutes north of minneapolis :)
should be getting my car next week :) puck Apr 1st, 2004, 04:35 AM Congratulations stellardude! Pictures requested when you get it.
By the way, what's the spec? puck Apr 16th, 2004, 11:09 PM OK, this thread seems dormant, but I have to add that today on the way home I saw 4 different MINI's. That's more than I've seen in the last month.
I just got my iPod back from Apple (brand new replacement) and I get my MCS on Tuesday.
All's right with the world! :) BlueMin Apr 18th, 2004, 05:08 PM Check out http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/mpls_mini/ there are about 90 of us signed up over there for planning motoring events. Last month about a dozen of us cruised down to Red Wing for lunch and then into WI for "sprint" up to River Falls. Lots of fun!
There are tentative plans for a big event this summer in or near Itasca State Park. | |
