: Shakespeare Pub Run in San Diego - ON FOR 03/28/04 jimskater Feb 1st, 2004, 04:53 AM I just wanted to give a heads-up for the next planned Shakespeare run. We're going to get together informally for a run and Trivia Night at Shakespeare's Pub on Sunday, March 28
Trivia Night at Shakespeare's pub is always on the last Sunday of the month. It starts at 7pm and usually runs until about 9:00pm. There are first and second prizes for the group with the most correct answers. The questions are often taken from Trivial Pursuit, with some of them having a British theme. Teams consist of no more than 6 players, so if we have a lot of people, we'll have to split up for teams.
The plan is to have a fun drive in East County, then get to the pub by 5ish so we can find parking. (Parking, and seating, is scarce after 5:30). Then we'll have dinner and hang out at the pub until the Trivia starts. For those non-San Diegans, this becomes a late night on a Sunday, so if you're planning to stay for Trivia, be prepared!
We haven't solidified plans yet. As soon as we have a route, we'll post it here and elsewhere. We'll also probably ask for an RSVP just to get an idea of the number of folks who are interested. AuthiMini Feb 1st, 2004, 08:01 PM Sounds like fun!
My new MCS arrives in Port Hueneme on the 5th, so I should have her well in hand by then. Look for me - and I'm pretty good at Trivia, if I do say so myself. [Conceit is a fault, and I have no faults :-) ] mirovampiro Feb 8th, 2004, 10:25 PM can minors go?
... because well, i'm one. AprilWhine Feb 8th, 2004, 11:09 PM That sounds like such fun, wish it were closer. :( jimskater Feb 19th, 2004, 05:24 AM See my revisions to the original post, we've had to postpone the run. Sorry. jimskater Feb 19th, 2004, 05:26 AM can minors go?
... because well, i'm one.
Minors are welcome in the restaurant area of the pub. And there's plenty of room. See the original announcement, we're looking at doing this in March, instead. EBMCS03 Feb 19th, 2004, 05:41 AM March 27? wow waaaays away. hehe jimskater Mar 5th, 2004, 12:55 PM Okay folks! We have a meeting place and time:

START - 11 am, Sunday March 28th.
Gordon Biersch Parking lot (Brew Pub in Mission Valley Center shopping area)
5010 Mission Ctr. Rd.
San Diego, CA 92108
Of course anyone who wants to is welcome to meet us at the Pub. We're aiming to get there around 5-5:30pm to get good parking and seats. Parking becomes really
scarce after 5:45, and seats in the pub become even more scarce after 6:00pm. We will NOT hold seats for anyone (we won't be able to really...).
Shakespeare's Pub
3701 India St.
San Diego, CA
It's just off the 5 at at the Washington St. exit. India St. crosses Washington St., and the pub is on the southeast corner of that block. There is a restaurant across the street with a large parking lot. DO NOT PARK THERE. You WILL be towed. There is a parking lot behind the pub, but it's small and usually full.
The following is the route. We are going to try to keep the group together during the run.
Leave the Mission Valley parking lot at the last northeast exit onto Camino De La Reina, turn left onto Mission Center road, then right onto Friars Road going east. Stay on Friars as it turns into Mission Gorge, all the way to the Woodside Ave name change wher it
jogs left, then right as it crosses 67, then left on David Ann, that little kink to get onto 67 east.
Stay on 67 past the backside of Poway to a left on Archie Moore Rd.
-----------
EDIT
We'll make a stop at the intersection of 67 and Archie Moore to pick up any folks who want to join us mid-route. We're shooting to be there around 12:30...
If you've got FRS radios with sub-channels, we'll be on channel 7 subchannel 21.
/EDIT
-------------
The next route change is a left onto Highland Valley Road, where we stay until we go right on Pomerado Road, then after crossing 15, turn left on the 15 South entrance. We stay on 15 South until Mercy Road exit – go right onto Mercy Rd, then Left at Black Mountain Road. Then left onto Capricorn Way – this road has some speed bumps along it, so NO SPEEDING - then right onto Camino Ruiz.
Camino Ruiz stops at Calle Cristobal, where you have to turn left. Continue on Calle Christobal as it changes to Sorrento Valley Blvd, right onto Sorrento Valley Road going north, then left on Carmel Valley Rd., then left onto North Torrey Pines Road, going
south. Stay right at the intersection with Genesee, then south for bit to right on La Jolla Shores Dr. Left at Ardath Rd, then right onto Hidden Valley Rd, then right on Via Capri, right onto La Jolla Scenic Dr, then left on Soledad Mountain Rd.
Then left on Garnet Ave, over the 5 and then right onto Morena Blvd. Go south on Morena until Clairmont Dr., where we turn right, then left onto East Mission Bay Dr. Go south and continue on straight at the intersection at Sea World Dr, to get onto Pacific Highway going south. Turn Left onto Washington St, then we can go past India St, one more street behind the restaurants here, and find parking on the streets near the pub. AuthiMini Mar 16th, 2004, 05:07 AM Now this is too cool - this route will be going right past my house in Pacific Beach! I'll have to try and get a neighbor to take pictures.

It's this Sunday, folks. AuthiMini Mar 28th, 2004, 03:56 AM Well, I won't be able to make the run - my brother's in town and I've got to take him to the airport for his flight home in the afternoon. Plus there's the Georgia Tech - Kansas game to see who goes to the Final Four !
I will try and make it to the pub.
There's also a chance I'll be waiting (depending on the time) when you all come down past my house on Soledad Mountain Road. I'll have my MCS out front and will be taking pictures - and I'll be listening on 7/21 on the FRS. Wave when you go by!
Have fun!
Andy Russell jimskater Mar 28th, 2004, 04:25 AM Two words, Andy:
