Ahh okay. My dealer told me week 17, but defintiely stated production would start on April 19. ??? So how long does it take to build one of these suckers then?

:indi: :indi: :indi:
About two weeks. But if they told you week 17 that should be the completion week (at least that's how it worked for mine--so if that's really supposed to be the starting week then maybe they're two weeks ahead for me). Mine started 6 April and is supposed to be done 19 April.

Oh, and week 17 is 19 April-23 April.

Wow ScottyB, mine actually was scheduled to do the same thing (my birthday is April 6)! Then it was finished all of a sudden before the end of March. No complaints here, just thought that would have been hella cool... so enjoy sharing your birthday :D

Cool - I think Id rather have waited a few days so me and my MINI can share the same bithdate :p

Gonna be easy to remember how old the car is too :D

It's more than a week. If yours is week 17 (like mine), it must have started production around 6 April (like mine). Fingers crossed that things are on schedule! I heard there was some kind of delay of shipping cars out due to a hazmat situation, but I don't know if it affected production.

Really? My dealer said week 16-17 (most likely Friday week 16 - tomorrow). I was under the impresson this was when it started....???

So youre saying my MINI could be rolling off the line, FINISHED... tomorrow??

Could be. Maybe you should call your dealer to find out. At least get your VIN so you can track the shipping!

Here is a copy of the message form my dealer:

Your MINI Cooper S has a PC number (BMW Allocation Number) and is scheduled for build in week 17 which means that your MINI will be produced between the 19th and the 25th of April 2004.

Just got word that "Hagrid" (yes WannaMini I too chose a character from Harry Potter) was received at the Southampton Terminal today. It has been scheduled to board the Maersk Teal for the departure date of 4/20/04 to arrive in New York on 4/28/04. Won't be to long now. The dealer will still need time to install the JCW but once it's done I'll be Flying....... :D :D :D :D

Hee hee hee - I love it! "Hagrid!" You know that I actually thought of that after I had already decided on Dobby. Congratulations on Hagrid's timeline!!

Okay, I guess I was full of carp. I just talked to ASK MINI and apparently the first step (that started 6 April for me) is just electronic/scheduling. My car didn't get bent until yesterday or today, but it's now expected to be done 17 Apr (tomorrow!). So the actual build out only takes a few days, even with painting. Once it's on the line, it just moves all the way through it.

My MINI is green now!

hey tridome...thanx for the link. I ordered my mini on 3/27 and right now its on the Hual Triton heading for New York! According to my princeton dealer...its about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Shouldnt be long till I get behind the wheel of my mini.

Holy crap!

EVERYONE that has ordered on the 27th is either in production or even on the freakin' boat already. Pardon my whining - I'm still "On Order" in the Owner's Lounge and "Scheduled for production with no confirmation date" on ASK MINI. So not fair. :( But I'm happy for you that you will be motoring soon!!!!

For some reason the WW site doesn't work well with my OS 10 Apple Safari browser. (For you Mac experts out there I also tried changing the user agents in the debug mode of Safari to no avail) I've had to call up my ancient netscape 6 browser in mac classic os9 mode to get it to work and then I still get various errors about 2/3's of the time. Next I tried typing the VIN into the Maersk web site (which works very nicely) but comes up empty. You can give it a shot if you like: WMWRE33494TD86771

Dude I just check and your sitting at the terminal waiting to be scanned in. You have been book for the Maersk Teal to leave port on the 20th. :D That's all the info I have for now... If all holds true you'll arrive in state side on the 28th. COOL OR WHAT.

COOL COOL COOL - Thanks Tridome! That's great. Now I have to figure out some deler accessories. I want to get the 5 spoke 16" wheels and auxiliary guages, but I can't make up my mind on floor mats and the leather brake handle, the shifter etc. Also I guess now is the time to make the call to the insurance agent and get an estimate.

Hi, its my first post, but my MINI will be with me on Wednesday if all goes right. I too have OS 10.3 with Safari and I havent had a problem checking the MINI owners lounge site. Oh and I was relieved by the insurance quote I got so maybe you will get the same bit a joy I did.

Yes so I've read, I may participate in the Vintage Grand Prix, Ive been busy reading up on here some things and learning to drive a stick the past few weeks, but I got it down pat now. I was thinking about the Harry Potter car naming theme for a while, I'd love to get the logo for the "Firebolt" broom and make a nice and small sticker for on the bumper, not a full fledged bumper sticker though. Not too geeky, just enough.

Congratulations DJPK1978. Hi Tridome,

I finally got Safari to work on the WW website about 10 minutes ago. I had some weird preference problems. Its still not 100% perfect. The cargo tracking page downloads as if its a PDF document, but I can force it to open with Safari and then use it!

It was interesting to see how far in advance the car, tentatively named Wesley, was booked for the trip - March 29th.

The call sign for the Teal is S6HK so it can be tracked on http://www.oceanweather.com/data/

It's not me, it's MINI! My dealer already screwed up my order once (slot given to someone else) and now that my car is almost done, it seems it should have a seat on a boat. :(

Maybe Monday, when it's ready for transport.

I think its about 1-2 weeks start to finish. That is, until its sitting outside ready for the docks.
