Christina,

Have you checked the WW website lately? They pushed back the New York dock date for Hual Triton from 04/21 to 04/23  :( Weather is nice here but must be crappy out at Sea..
I sure hope Blitzen and your MINI are not getting sea sick and being bounced around too much.. Most of all I hope it gets to my dealer in time to pick up at least by 05/01... I have plans with the MINI that day..

Craig

Hi, Craig -

Yes, I was thinking of you when I read of the delay... bummer! But hopefully it won't be any later than the 23rd when they reach NY. I'll keep my fingers crossed regarding Blitzen reaching you in plenty of time for the 1st!

Cheers,
Christina

My Dealer has just told me that my MCS will be ready for collection on thursday ( I ordered it on 1st March), so i decided to ring my insurance broker to tell him to move my insurance from my Golf to the S. But i was told that i cant change the car untill my renewal date which is the 9th of May !!! thats 19 days with out insurance !!. Im in Dublin but my broker has me insured through Loyd's of London Bank and they said they wont insure me cause im under 28 and have a mini !!!

I only need cover for 19 days and then i can go to a different insurance company !!! :(

so if i collect the car on thursday it will be sitting in my driveway for 19 days without insurance , how crap is that :(

Very crap!

Ill be doing the same with my insurance, but Ive only just renewed mine on the Nissan - so I hope they dont make me wait 11 months to do the changeover!!! :p

So, I've read through the site, and the FAQ and DIY section and it says to read through the MINI manual before you get your car, so I have, but has anyone mentioned the fact that it says "Do not let the engine warm up with the vehicle at a standstill. Move off immediately at a moderate engine speed." (Page 41) So is that true? cause that my suck a little in the wintertime.
This is true for all modern engines. It's better to drive it to get the oil moving through the engine.

Yep. What he said. Never heard a truer word chief.

All that lovely oil just sitting in a gloppy pool in the sump just as your choke is washing the walls nice and clean.

Mmmmmmmm bad. :(

Best to get things moving as soon as possible.

What, do I have to post them on every thread? I could be up all night!

Wait... I usually do that anyway.

OK, I'm putting some into my gallery right now. :p

Hi. Has anyone else ordered their dealer to install the Invisishield? I'm still debating it but is seems expensive. $240 + $300 to install it (plus tax of course!) I want to protect my MINI but that just seems high. Think it's really needed? My dealer said they only do 1 in 10 cars. Another nearby dealer said they've never had anyone order it.

Under track by cargo, click Auto.

Enter your VIN and thats it!

If its Week 17 prod. its probably done. Might even be sailing now like mine :D

Received a call from my dealer last week: "I have some good news and some bad news"

The good news was that I could have my Mini tomorrow. The bad news was that it didn't have the visibility pack that I had amended to the order about a week after the initial order (end of Jan).

The fault of the dealer apparently. They offered me two options: Take the car as it is, or wait 3-4 months for another!!! As you ca imagine I went up the wall - there's no way I'm going through all that waiting again!!

So, here's what I've negotiated:

- I take delivery of the car as it is, paying the price quoted less the price of the visibility pack.
- They order me a new one to correct spec, which will be delivered mid-late Sept.
- I exchange mine for the new one in Sept + £500 + the price of the visibility pack.

At first I didn't want to pay the £500. But, having thought about it, I'll be getting the car I want on a 54 reg plate, which will be worth more at re-sale, and it obviously won't have the mileage on it from the summer. Plus, I'm getting ~4months of road tax free. I also requested free TLC, which they hadn't offered originally, and they agreed to that too.

So, basically I'm having a new car next week without the visibility pack (won't get used in the summer anyway), then in September, I'm having a brand spanking new one with the visibility pack. This will cost me £400 more than it would have if they'd got it right 1st time round.

All in all, they have been very cooperative given the circumstances. I feared them just saying: "Have it how it is with a couple of hundred quid off or something equally as useless, or wait 3-4 months for another.....end of story"

You may be thinking that the vis pack isn't worth the hassle, and I should just live without it. But, if I was prepared to settle for a car not quite how I wanted it I would have bought a used one and skipped the seemingly never ending waiting list....

Anyway - picking it up tomorrow after work, and I'm absolutely pulling my hair out with excitement!!! The weather forecast is absolutely awesome too!!! Perfect (almost!)

Took Blitzen 4 or 5 days tops.. then was at port and on the boat within TWO.. I could not believe it.. that is a rare case... I even saw someone on the owners lounge at MINI fussing because they were booted from Hual Triton and put on the Jingu and I was moved UP from the Jingu to the Hual Triton.. I was bummed for them but happy for me..

Boat docks in NY tomorrow so I hope to be motoring by next weekend but my luck will probably show its ugly face  and put me into May! I know TMI but I am excited!

My "production started" 4/6, was complete 4/19. But the real production didn't start until 4/14 or so when it went from code 150 to code 151. From there it's 4-5 days.

I'm a bit worried! I put my VIN in and it came up with "No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered" -What does that mean? Am I doing it right? Do I put in the whole VIN, WMW etc..? Any advice?

Thats what I got until yesterday.

Probably means your car hasnt been shipped yet (or at least loaded).

Mine only came up once it hit the docks - even though it had finished its build 2 days earlier. Give it a few days. If you are a week 17 prod. then it will no doubt show up by Saturday :D

But you know that means I won't be able to sleep tonight! - And from Saturday till when my car gets delivered my life will revolve around the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website!
