: Mini Dragon's Breath Chili Cook-Off BabsWife Mar 6th, 2004, 10:00 PM Hello all planning on attending the Dragon in April/May:
Clover and I are pleased to invite you to a Chili Cook-off and party.
TIME: 6pm
PLACE: Dam Room in the Rec Center at the Fontana
PURPOSE: To have fun and compete for the BEST Chili honors
RSVP: Please let us know you are planning on attending. If you are entering a chili, you will be ask to register through NAM's storefront in the upcoming days (I'll let you know when it is up and running).
WHAT TO BRING: If you aren't bringing a chili to enter, please bring either a salad or a dessert. Please see the list below to see what is being brought so we don't wind up with 400 desserts and 1 salad. Please note, if I'm wrong about what you are bringing, let me know so I can update it.
Send me or Clover a PM if you have any questions.
Do plan to join us and celebrate our MINIs, our friendships, our need and desire to have fun.
Hugs to all,
PB

DaCrema Hotelcalif Mar 6th, 2004, 11:09 PM You do know that many will have to travel back to their rooms after this cookoff and that the mini is a small car and it may be a bit cool to roll the windows down??? AprilWhine Mar 6th, 2004, 11:32 PM Well, there will be no shortage of gas that night!
I plan to enter a version of chili. :) BabsWife Mar 7th, 2004, 12:37 AM Well, there will be no shortage of gas that night!
maybe I'll have to provide the Costco sized gas relief pills instead of breath mints.
Be careful near the Dragon...he bites.:D
PB Driving_Hamster Mar 7th, 2004, 12:51 PM I'll be entering a Chili as well. Just let us know closer to the event how many people we need to brew this up for :-) I can use all the extra gas for the Midnight Dragon Run! Jen Mar 7th, 2004, 12:56 PM MIchael and I will be there. I can't cook anything worth eating. What else needs to be brought that I could bring? Hotelcalif Mar 7th, 2004, 01:30 PM Queen B and hotelcalif will eat chili but not cook it. We will bring somethink to accompany. MoonPie Mar 7th, 2004, 09:50 PM hey Babs, lol :p

I think we might have a few seats for those in the hostel. But, if you fall in love with our RESORT, you may NOT stay in our extra bedroom.
So, MP....you bringing chili?
As far as sides....we are looking for salads and desserts....
Hugs,
PB moorlockx Mar 8th, 2004, 12:54 AM We'll be there.....don't know what to bring as cooking to me means walking into a restaurant instead of going through the drive-through. :) Jen Mar 8th, 2004, 11:20 AM I think we might have a few seats for those in the hostel. Desserts travel much better than salads, so we'll bring a dessert! minicoopersgirl Mar 8th, 2004, 04:49 PM Jen - I was thinking the same thing....."hum, what can I bring that will be okay in the car for 12 hours" MoonPie Mar 8th, 2004, 06:36 PM minicoopersgirl, you could always buy a dessert :p :p :p
have to check with hubby, he may want to stay home and play checkers with me ;) :D :p NTHUSIAST Mar 8th, 2004, 07:33 PM Count us in for the festivities on Friday night (we're staying at the Fontana, so location is very appealing to us).
We would be more than happy to bring some chili. I'll bring enough chili for around 10 people.
Be warned - I don't consider it chili unless you sweat while eating.
Jeff and Maria
:indi: tjockey Mar 8th, 2004, 08:12 PM I'll bring the Prevacid... :p :p :p And some good homemade brownies...sans Cannuba :D :D . Probably could pick up some salad goodies there somewhere... sdmidget Mar 9th, 2004, 04:27 PM Supermarket right down the street from the MicroHostel - for last minute shopping!! :D minicoopersgirl Mar 9th, 2004, 07:22 PM ah okay, I will keep that in mind. Thanks :) melindalou Mar 10th, 2004, 02:36 AM I'll be there. I'm staying at Fontana also, so it'll be close to home. I'm sure NO ONE wants me to be cooking anything, so maybe I could bring a bag o'salad, salad dressing and maybe a dessert. TX MINI Mar 10th, 2004, 05:37 PM I'll be happy to bring some Texas-style chili, (no beans). I have a 4-1/2 quart crock pot that I can fill, (I assume that there will be a nearby power source). :eb: :p tjockey Mar 10th, 2004, 05:44 PM :D We've got the cups, plates, bowls and utensils covered.. I got Miniclo's permission..... ;) ;) melindalou Mar 10th, 2004, 08:01 PM I'll be happy to bring some Texas-style chili, (no beans). hmmm, power source?. Are Babs (is that PB?) and Clo (is that the armpit guy?-I'm just trying to figure out who everyone is :) ) staying in one of the cabins? Is this going to be sort of a block party? Or are you guys staying at the actual main building part? (I haven't been there, just looked at the layout online) If it's going to be a block party type thing, I rented one of the little cabins, and I don't know how far apart they are, but I could bring an extension cord if need be. (anything if I don't have to cook :D ) AprilWhine Mar 10th, 2004, 08:18 PM There's a power source in your boot, if you have a 2002. That's what I'm using for my crock. Babs is married to Bugged (the armpit guy) and Clo is MINIClo, who is driving out from CA. :D
Get your scorecards here! :D Bugged Mar 10th, 2004, 09:55 PM The armpit guy... hmm maybe it's time to change my sig! Anybody want to make me one? Maybe I'll have a contest! The winner will have the honor of the sig that they designed on display whenever I post. AprilWhine Mar 10th, 2004, 10:26 PM The armpit guy... hmm maybe it's time to change my sig! You must have redeeming qualities, just look at Babs. :) She likes you. :) Bugged Mar 10th, 2004, 10:33 PM You must have redeeming qualities, just look at Babs. :) She likes you. :)
Oh I don't doubt that. My concern is that if I'm getting the reputation as the "armpit guy" well... it's not that flattering.... I was going for laughs, not to be known as "armpit guy!" :D BabsWife Mar 10th, 2004, 11:47 PM You must have redeeming qualities, just look at Babs. :) She likes you. :)
Yes, Babs likes Bugged. ;) However, I'm not sure how I feel about being known as wife to "Armpit boy" Bugged, honey....would you please pick a new sigy?
OK, Cook-off information to help people decide what to do.
1. Yes, Clover and Babs are staying in the cabins at the Fontana. We are in the older 2 bedroom ones. However, because of a bird watching group and the potential noise level from a party of 100+ mini owners we have gotten the Fontana to give us a room instead of the block party concept.
2. The room has electric. I'm working on making sure everyone who enters gets power. If you will be needing more than one outlet, please PM me...so I can accomodate.
3. I am keeping a list of what people are signing up to bring. Soon, you will see this information in the first post.
4. The cabins at the Fontana have full kitchen facilities.
Hope this helps.

I'm sure there's an excellent and entertaining story behind the whole "armpit" thing, and I'm sure if I knew it, everything would make perfect sense to me. :) I can't wait to meet YOU guys! :D AprilWhine Mar 11th, 2004, 08:39 AM I think the armpit thing is a quote Bart Simpson wrote on the blackboard. Am I close, Bugged? cnhminics Mar 11th, 2004, 01:20 PM Count us in... We'd like to enter our chili and join in the fun! | |
