Hmmm, I didn't think this thread would still be active after all this time. What a nice community this is.

Thanks again for all the nice comments. I am slowly going through them all adding reputation points for anyone who's posted on this thread (so if you want gratuitous reputation points, make sure you post here). I was going to do the whole lot last night but I ran foul of the "You've given too many reputation points in 24 hours" limit. I'll hopefully get the rest of y'all finished today/tomorrow.

Aside from being father to Audrey and doing IT work, have you given much thought to writing as a career choice?

Work, moi? I've been unemployed for five months! (Anyone need a computer programmer in the UK?) I've thought briefly about writing as a career move (either films or books), but I'm not sure where to start (plus, I have trouble thinking of ideas: once I get started I'm all right). And if I was writing all day, I'd get sick of it and wouldn't be able to post any more mini-novellas (no pun intended) to this BB. Nice of you to say, though... :)

I've been out a few times in Audrey, taking circuitous routes for no reason in particular and enjoying revving her up to 5000rpm in 2nd gear. Whee! She's in line for another clean tomorrow afternoon (after Herr Schumacher qualifies on pole at the Monaco Grand Prix). We also went to visit the ruins of a 12/13th century Augustine abbey that's a few miles away from where I live (it got trashed during the English Civil War, the idiots). I was going to take some pics of Audrey betwixt the ruins but various locked gates put pay to that...

A week ago, I got a copy of the invoice that'll be sent to the other side's insurers for the heap of junk hire car that I had (which, coincidentally, I don't miss one iota). I had the car for 49 days and the bill came to around £3000/$5400 (or £61/$110 per day on average). Glad I'm not having to pay all that!

I also got a questionnaire through from the solicitors who are acting on my behalf to recover the hire car fees, asking me to detail all uninsured losses. This included the injuries I sustained (which took around 6 weeks to clear up fully) and I had to provide details on all the doctor visits I'd been on. It would be nice to think that I might get a little compensation after all the back/knee pain I went through.

Ho hum. Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Vincent, I'm glad to see that all is ending well. Glad to know that you & the car have both come out all right in the end.

VincentVega,

Sorry, I have neglected to revisit this thread for a while. I'm happy for you that all has turned out well. Reading through your saga, it's a little like the wait most of us in North America go through. We order our MINI, and monitor its progress as it makes its way over to us. Then that far off and magical date finally arrives when we are able to motor off in it. Coincidentally enough, our average wait time is ~ 8 weeks. Unfortunately, you had the personal injuries to deal with, which (good thing) do not usually come with placing an order for a MINI. :D I hope you've healed up as well as Audrey has. Happy motoring.
