I really had a lot of fun this weekend it's been a long time since I have gone camping and just relaxed. I met a lot of cool people and everyone was so nice. I am glad I decided to go along with a friend.... After this trip I think it almost sold me on a mini :D though I'm only 19 and I am not sure if I can afford the insurance on them I just may get one :eek: . I think I may just start passing the word around for mini and see if I cant help get more mini owners to come along and enjoy all the fun.

Hey all... this was my first dragon run, and I must say I do not look at roads the same way anymore! This was the most fun I have had in a long time. Thanks to all the people who made this happen, I will definately be coming again next year! :-D

Talk about looking at roads a little differently :)
hotelcalif had a thought after viewing the signs in the area about truck advisories. There is probably a guide somewhere for truckers that lists these roads with truck advisories.We should find it and use it for our purposes :D :D

I have video of the parade passing over the Dam Overlook. I will try to get a small video as small as possible to preview. If someone wants DVD, we can discuss later. I will post video in near future.

Pictures of the Mountain Madness run look great! I wish I could have done that one. I felt compelled to arrange the Highlands run, otherwise there would have been 20 more MINIs on Madness. I got a map from triumphrider and hope to do it on my own this summer.

Don & I had a GREAT TIME! We loved seeing all of our old friends and making new ones!
Our trip was dampened on our way home though. The LIL KRZR and MNI LIMO both got pulled about an hour after leaving Robbinsville, 80 in a 55!!!!! They said we had to go back to go to court, we will make some phone calls and hope that we don't! It is sooo hard to go the speed limit!! Still trying to figure out how we are going to get out of these tickets. If we have to go back, we will make a DRAGON RUN! :dark: :black: :)

Yes it is... She doesn't get to drive the MINI often, but she really seemed to enjoy it. She is usually not a happy traveller [too much motion sickness]. She survived the day well.

This was shot by my wife at the Dam Overlook somewhere near mile 9 on the "Tail of the Dragon".

I haven't done an official count yet. (Just watched and counted 111 cars which is what I heard when we were at bottom of Fontana Dam)

I got pulled over in Cherokee County, NC on the way up to the dragon, doing 73 in a 55. Doh! My court date is 25 June. If you are going to be up there at the same time, and in the same county, maybe we could have another MINI gathering after we pay our respective fines. hehe (:

I tell you these little cities must be hurting for money cops were hiding everywhere along the way home trying to ticket people. Emporia VA is one of the worst spots to speed through we ended up setting cruise control doing 55 and 55 in a mini feels about 25 :eek: I thought we were never going to get home. So uh who is going to post some videos :D

What a really great weekend. Can't stop smiling when I think of that road, the MINIs or the great people. Only down side is makes the roads in northern Illinois seem even more boring than before.

Thanks again for all who worked to put together such a great weekend. We can't wait for next year!

Glad to see some of the video is starting to show up, but I know there were some people that had nice in-car/on-car riggings taping the run. Is anyone out there going to post some of the better footage gathered?

I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be willing to pay a few dollars if someone was willing to go through the trouble of some minor editing, copying and shipping? Anyone out there willing?

I have video I can post but no site to put it on. If someone will let me post to their site I will put up a few clips.

Gotta say, we had a great time. The weekend was full of fun. Just a quick note to those of you who stayed at Microtel: I noticed after I got home that they had charged me the weekend rate of $53.95 instead of the MINI rate of $44.95. I called Microtel and she said that their computer has been doing that and that she would credit my account.
