I must try and get up there in 06, congats on the times a bit of traction and you'll be in the 14s

ScottishcooperS
Dec 2nd, 2005, 08:27 PM
Yeah you should try and get up its a really good track and alot of fast cars turn up so its a good day out!

Thanks, im really wanting to get into the 14's. I do need to practice starting, not the best at it.

Paul@1320
Dec 2nd, 2005, 08:49 PM
You have to get in the zone, so take your time as you go into stage sometimes its better to let the other person stage first and then you go into 2nd stage I usually stage via the handbrake as well

What I try to do is focus on the element of the bulb and react to that.

If nothing else its always nice to beat the other guy on reaction.

ScottishcooperS
Dec 2nd, 2005, 11:20 PM
Yeah i was thinking about using the handbrake! What RPM do you sit at when are away to go for it? I was spinning to much to start with then trundling away after that as spinning left me with too much too catch up on the other car.

4000 or 5000 depending on track conditions but I do have the advantage of a quaife diff and drag radials:D we've gone regular 2.0s 60ft

ScottishcooperS
Dec 3rd, 2005, 09:39 AM
Thats excellent!! So yo would recomend a diff? does it help alot on the start?

Paul@1320
Dec 3rd, 2005, 09:53 AM
I can't really say because I've never used it without the quaife, I know there's some guys in Phoenix that have run similar 60fts as me with an open diff, but you would defintley say that they have an advantage of probably a better prepared track and warmer temps than you :D

2006 JCW Mini-no mods with Michelin X-Ice winter tires and 2 people in the car. G-Tech used for all info.
Conditions: -18 degrees C
0-60 mph times
Run 1 6.01 seconds-let out clutch at 3000 rpm, lots of wheelspin, had to lift before getting back on the throttle.
Run 2 5.98 seconds-got rolling before putting the hammer down, still some wheelspin but lost time when engine bounced off rev limiter.
Run 3 5.72 seconds-got rolling before giving full gas, some wheelspin and shifted as tach crossed 6500 rpm.

Ok, this should put to rest any arguement that the JCW package isn't much better than a stock MCS-5.72 seconds is as quick as my Porsche 911 is with just me in the car and running sticky tires.

Very good work!

Nice times. I dont think you were running 210bhp though if its -18 degrees! 1degrees can sometimes amount to 1HP. You gotta love cold weather ;) Especially our track day we had at the start of the year. :D

Yeh, I suspect that the power was up because of the outside temp but I also had massive wheelspin because the tires/pavement were so cold. I'm betting that on a warm day and with little wheelspin, the numbers will be as good or better. I'm just shocked how fast the little bugger is, it's beyond expectations.

You've be amazed at how much the power will drop off as the temp goes up. Its a huge different even 10degrees temp on the intercooler can make.

No doubt, but I also had a passenger and winter tires that would not hook up.

Made some runs with a Gtecpro the other night.

2005 MC -15" light alloys. BMC CDA with custom CAI. 1/4 tank of Total 98 RON (Rated at 99RON).

Completely dry cool non humid night, driving on local country road.

Ist run - 0-60 in 7.4 sec. Slipped clutch at 3500 rpm.

2nd run - 0-60 in 9.8 sec. Lost concentration as saw headlights in rear view and slipped clutch at 5000rpm (oops)

3rd run - 0-60 in 7.6 secs. Slipping the clutch around 3000 rpm.

Didn't think that was too bad really. Tested it after on my mates Renault 19 16v and he was getting 7.3's and 7.4s. So it was definately accurate.

I do drive it like i've stolen it most of the time though, so I don't know if the adaptive ECU helps?? :)

Wow... that's absolutely fast for an MC. What's a BMC CDA :o , and do you have any chiptuning?

I want that too :D (stock 2005 MC with 16", have got a Pipercross I still have to install though).

1/4 mile on a Mustang dyno, with an entered weight of 2750. This was done as a warm up run prior to testing some intakes and the best intake was an average of 5 whp and 4 lbs better over the last 1000 rpm.

60' - 2.240 & 32.654mph
330' - 6.006 & 62.779
660' - 9.180 & 79.669
1000' - 11.872 & 91.787
1/4m - 14.131 & 101.426

This was done on my ce28n's with 215/40/16, F1-GS-D3's and at apx. 68 deg. F.

Quarter miles on dynos tend to be very optimistic. My 05 Evolution run 12.08 @ 114.8 at the track (Capitol Raceway MD) and the very next day did 11.15 @ 121.1 on a Mustang dyno.

The dyno shop does figure a power loss in for wind resistance but still doubt it's equal to the MINI's. They did say they were usually within .2 sec. of reported Strip times. Still I figure it's best just for a comparison to other dyno 1/4 mile runs or over the shorter distances, say up to 660'.

Stock MCS, but with heavy S-Spokes and run-flats, dyno'd at 180bhp when it only had 5000 on the clock, so may have loosened up? Outside Temp 16.5 Degrees Celcius. Almost zero fuel. DSC Off. Measured with newly purchased GTechProSS. Need a lot more practice and not sure if it's setup right but...
0-60mph
Run1 - 8.36s
Run2 - 7.68s
Run3 - 6.14s

Run3 was very very slightly downhill.

Best i managed on a 52 plate MCS no mods was...

.486 ------- Reaction
2.476 ------- 60ft
6.585 ------- 330ft
9.992 ------- 1/8 ET
71.52 ------- 1/8 MPH
12.862 ------- 1000' ET
15.418 ------- 1/4 ET
90.00 ------- 1/4 MPH

Was very hot...temp reading on car dash was 31 deg:eek: so maybe on a cooler day times might decrease a bit

And if ya read this...Hi again to 1320 autos m8 who i spoke to today at santa pod

Done some tests a few months back on my standard 210 works, using the Race Tech AP22 out of the box - got a 0-60 of 5.7secs. Race Tech claim this is accurate to 2-3% out of the box and without adjusting the tilt factor.
