HAd a go up Santa Pod today,

Was'nt going to as only went up with my mates as they were all taking their bikes up the strip, jammy gits were pulling out 9 second qtr miles the gits!!!!

Anyway when i got up there the queue was about 3 cars long and unusually for santa pod the track was open 9 am !!! shock horror!!

So i thought get some free runs in just to see what mine would get in standard guise. anything lower than 16 would have pleased me.

Anyhow, was very slippery as only early and the MCS was spinning too easily off the line, on one run it just lit up silly style in 2nd.

But i ran 5 times and consistently got

16.1458 @ 88.41
15.9459 @ 90.37
15.9581 @ 90.53
15.8292 @ 90.14
15.8892 @ 90.19

I don't think you can get much more consistent than that! And that was all done in 18 mins tootal so shows how quiet it was today ( made a change)

Anywayi was happy with that as i know the 02 MCS strong point is not off the line, but more midrange. Anyway, Milltek Manifold and at going on on Wednesday, and then hopefully GTT 230 conversion done before July, which is when i will take it up there again to get a comparison.

Only Mini thee today though, quickest run by a "normal" car today was a VW Corrado that got an 11.42 qtr mile.

My advice pop along to these winte ones if you want some good track time at the pod, cos come summer you are lucky to get 3 runs in a whole day. Plus your car runs better in the winter. Good laugh.

Congrats AFR on the times, what was your 60ft?? There we were at British Mini Club show while you were having fun.

We'll be at the Pod on Feb 11th.

What track was that at?? Nice temp for this time of year.

I always like the "I was concentrating on my launch rpm" for bad reactions.

Good times

it was actually at infineon on october 25th, and it was my first time out, so because the 1st and 3rd run I forgot to disengage the DSC, and I didn't know you were supposed to try an launch at the last yellow, but I started to pick it up by the end, too bad I didn't knwo what a dial in ment, so I averaged my times, dialed in at 16.0, and then I broke out..... at least I whooped the del slow (pun intended) in the next lane over.

Did 10 test runs today with my new G-Tech device (yeah, got a bit carried away with my new gadget).

- MCS JCW with Madness JCW intake filter kit (+flap mod)
- 17" Bullet wheels + 205/45/17 Pirelli 240 Snowsport tyres (RFs)
- 3/4 tank of Shell V-Power Racing, only driver in the car

Temperature +7C

Best five runs (0-60mph):
6.11s
6.18s
5.38s ( this was a bit suspicious result?)
6.07
6.18

Avg. 5.984s (or without the 3rd one, 6.135s)

As this was the first time, I really had to work hard on my launch technique to see what works. But the results are not so bad considering that these were with runflat winter tyres...

Just wondering if that 5.38 really was a reliable result. It was without a doubt my best run, but the difference to the other runs was a bit too big to be believeable.

I had the same thing. I averaged about 5.7 secs but did one that was 5.3 something which I was too embarrased to tell anyone about :)

I'd like todo a 1/4 mile run next, so maybe a visit to Santa pod is needed..

No, udoubtdly a rouge figure. The Gtech Pro needs to feel the initial lurch to automatically start the timer. I would suggest this run failed to trigger the device initially, and therefore resulted in a false reading....

either that, or you were pointed seriously downhill at the time of the run!!! :D

2004 MCS with:
- JCW intake
- 15% pulley
- MTH software
- 16" non runflat tyres
- half tank
- no passenger
- 15 degrees C

Gtech pro time 0-60 (best of 2 runs within 0.1 sec of each other) 5.95s

2004 MCS with
17% pulley
Larger intercooler
lightweight crank
No ECU remap so standard rev limit
20 Degrees C
Heavy S-Spokes
Strut braces
Heavy Sub and amp in the back

Using a Race Technologys AP22 Performance Meter.

0-60 6.56secs
1/4 Mile 15.24s 98.4mph

Probably could do better with more traction and if I didnt hit the rev limiter in second opps! Probably why the time is so high but the speed its pretty good, especially with some people getting similar times at around 90mph.

Must try harder and will go for a play again later....

Yeah that was my first time ever on a quater mile. I think with a bit more practice and a bit of luck i can get into 13's.

lke to say yes but err no

Jove's is the JCW with Rolands stage 2 JCW upgrades + manifold

I'm shortly for the same

We just got back from a Rolling Road and Jove's car reached 209.2bhp 180 lb of torque he is well dissapointed but more confused as i don't think this mirrors the actual quarter mile performance and the road performance. maybe put it on another dyno once mine is done as well.

Not too bad for a JCW running hot really. Rolling roads are awful for heat build up which is why they dont reflect the on road experience. I'm yet to see one with proper intercooler air flow so if you do one make sure you're using the highest octane fuel you can get your hands. You wouldnt believe the amount of JCW's that full way short of the 210bhp and in some cases even less than 170 which we have seen! I'm betting it is more likely around the 225bhp mark if I was to make a guess. Mine came out at 225bhp on the rollers but the intercooler could have burnt you! Wont be doing that again without an intercooler fan. :)

Measured my 0-60 today with a friend using a gadget called a Driftbox (DriftBox - Drift and Performance Meter (http://www.driftbox.com)).

MINI Cooper Convertible (top down :p) with a panel filter, ECU Remap, performance plugs and leads... running 17" R90s with Dunlop SP9000 runflats (front) and Goodyear Eagle F1s (rear).

Two passengers, empty boot, 1/2 tank of Shell V-Power.

Measured on a flat piece of private road, but to be fair I timed in both directions to rule out any gradient influence.

First run: 0-60mph = 8.2s
Second run: 0-60mph = 8.1s

Ambient temparature was approx 18 celcius, and the car engine was hot!

Hi Drumzz,

MiniMania foam panel filter for post '05 Coopers, ECU remap performed by AMD, NGK Iridium plugs, and Nology hotwire leads ;)

Hope that answers your question :D

What you need to do is weigh your cars with you in them, once you have this info you can calculate the horsepower by 1/4 mile mph / weight:biggrin:

Do you know wheel horse power Jove made??

Jove
Apr 10th, 2007, 10:13 AM
It was 174.3 at the wheels.

I was at the same rolling road session as Jove and we made similar numbers; mine were slightly higher - my mods are shown below in the footer.

I'm sure both cars would have performed better if they could have been kept cooler; Jove went first on the rolling road, initially without a fan blowing on to the IC (only on the rad) which I think cooked his IC for the subsequent runs.

As various people mention, rolling roads cannot accurately recreate on road conditions.

Still good figures for both cars :)

Mine came out at 183whp but running a +1% crank on top of your mods.

I just need to work on getting some grip and getting some of the HP onto the tarmac.

Good point Rigsey well done on the 211 :P

On the video i took they ran my car for over 3mins before they did the power run. The intercooler was so f'ing hot you could have cooked an egg on it. That fan was pathetic even after i told them to move it.

Rigsey

You did volunteer to go first :-0

The fan was pretty limp to be honest we needed something a lot more powerful and with more direct (i.e. to the IC) airflow.
