: 2005 Aussie MINI2 Calendar... OUT NOW - SEE STICKY ABOVE! :) swamos May 31st, 2004, 08:34 PM I not sure that Queenslanders are invited in this one, but if I was buying the calendar it would have to have more artistic shots, rather than just car on roadside when we met before run... They might be fond memories to those that were there, but they don't really grab the attention of everyone else :) alan earnshaw May 31st, 2004, 09:22 PM I not sure that Queenslanders are invited in this one, but if I was buying the calendar it would have to have more artistic shots, rather than just car on roadside when we met before run... Reading through the posts Steve you ARE most definatly invited. It is intended to be a NATIONAL effort :D :D :D :D cityclinic May 31st, 2004, 10:07 PM I not sure that Queenslanders are invited in this one, but if I was buying the calendar it would have to have more artistic shots, rather than just car on roadside when we met before run... Of course the Queenslanders are invited to participate. :p :p It is an excellent project to bring the clubs together and it was always gazah's intention that it would involve all MINI2ers.
As moderator you might like to approach Paul on behalf of the project for the use the MINI2 name.
I think we all agree the pics need to be something special if it is to be a successful undertaking. gazah has suggested a poll for the final pics. Maybe we gather all submissions and then shortlist to say a managable number, then poll for the final twelve. :) warped May 31st, 2004, 11:07 PM ... but if I was buying the calendar it would have to have more artistic shots, rather than just car on roadside when we met before run...
Some of us might take offense at that :p all our photos are honest attempts at being artistic but some of us are less gifted in this area than other
Scotty has taken some great shots ... and there are definately a few other shots worthy of mention ... we just need to get a large number of entries to select from and then put them to the polls ... a few different backdrops is obviously a good start, your trip to the snow being a fine example of a nice backdrop
Is it worth defining some photo requirements/guidelines? eg we need a MINI in the snow, MINI on track, MINI in motion etc or is that being too prescriptive? -blacky- May 31st, 2004, 11:40 PM Thats sort of what I was trying to say..... (Is it worth defining some photo requirements/guidelines? eg we need a MINI in the snow, MINI on track, MINI in motion)
And I know i'm terrible at taking photos, but I try my hardest !
Cheers
Karen MickyD May 31st, 2004, 11:49 PM I'm already thinking out a photo for the start of the GOR run on sunday morning...
7.30 am... sun coming up... row of mini's with the Westgate bridge in the background... nice long exposure....
fingers crossed it works out :) gazah Jun 1st, 2004, 12:21 AM now we see some healthy banter & great ideas coming in... keep the thoughts rolling guys!

i've been watching the snow-trip thread & last i read it they were unlikely to actually have a MINI making the trip down! ;) :p :( -blacky- Jun 1st, 2004, 01:03 AM i'm thinking of going to the snow -either here or NZ, so i might be able to take some mini/snow pic's........ swamos Jun 1st, 2004, 02:13 AM now we see some healthy banter & great ideas coming in... keep the thoughts rolling guys!

I believe that Ken will be taking his MINI down. You too will soon understand the amount of luggage space a child can consume. While the MINI is fine for taking kids on short trips, I think it will be lacking in the luggage area for this type of job. We have a Vienta wagon, and I believe that it will also have insufficient luggage space, and that we will need a roof pod as well   Now remember that last year we did a two week trip in our MINI, and the only difference between now and then is one little bundle of joy.
I guess all I'm saying is that the photos should be well exposed, and well composed. As I have said, many of the shots mentioned here have been good shots for the people for which it was a memory, but might have lacked for people who weren't there ;)
I wonder what theme Paul is thinking of for his MINI2 calendar next year ;) ;)
Let's just look at a couple of samples of Cjays work....

Whereas this one is a really great shot, and a worthy memory for those involved, but IMHO it's no calendar shot....

Do you want ot ring him and ask him . . I think gazah is thinking local content for the Aussies . . not there would be anything wrong with what Paul/MINI2 has to offer. I am sure it will be great.
A quick PM to Paul re use of MINI2 name for a local production would be a good start to the project. We can then work from there as far as theme goes.
Thanks Steve . . . :) cityclinic Jun 1st, 2004, 02:29 AM I believe that Ken will be taking his MINI down. You too will soon understand the amount of luggage space a child can consume. Excellent shots for a calender . . the first two. I agree the group shot maybe doesn't meet the requirement for a calender although there have been some really interesting group shots that have some artistic flair. I guess we should just get in as many shots as we can and go through a culling process until we get a shortlist to poll. swamos Jun 1st, 2004, 02:34 AM Excellent shots for a calender . . the first two. Some group shots can be nice, but I don't think there are many that make the grade :(

I think at this stage we will collect whatever comes in from contributors and then short list for a poll. Anything you feel is appropriate would be great and we'll let the judges (MINI2ers) have the final say. :p Neeshil Jun 23rd, 2004, 10:22 PM Neeshil Jun 23rd, 2004, 10:23 PM Here are some photos with my mini from my wedding... most of these are taken by the wedding photographer:

Anybody who has some high res pics they would like to be considerd for the 2005 calender, send them to: darryl@sheatherbros.com.
Once we have a selection of pics we can poll them to find the 12 best for the calender. :) MickyD Jun 24th, 2004, 02:03 AM is it OK to send links through?

I hadn't put any tag on it .. .. .. we can do it as a local MINI2 project if you wish. Just need to finalise permissions however that shouldn't be too much of an issue. :)
What I am mindful of is that time will get away and next thing we will be past the down time period before the Christmas rush at the printers. I am just trying to push it along so that the project actually happens. High res pics have to come in, shortlisted, polled, finished art, film, printed, calendars sold, put in mail tubes and then posted .. .. .. all before November. Any later then we caught up in the Christmas rush at both printers and Post Office.
It is a good idea which I am sure will be well supported however the project will stop dead if we don't get things rolling. We have July August and about a week into September to receive the high res pics and poll them for our final 12 and get them to the printers. :p Neeshil Jun 24th, 2004, 10:10 AM Thanks ;-)
The silver Mini is mine. The other ones are the fabulous ClubMINI members.

no worries, but despite my keen interest to run this one i really can't put in the time until early september :(... so i'll leave it to you!
maybe i can coordinate next years'...  Smurfn Jun 24th, 2004, 02:26 PM Just noticed this thread. I'm not trying to hi-jack this project gazah, it's your idea and you should run with it. I am just very mindful of timings particulalrly leading up to the holiday periods (School and Christmas). If we get the pics in and polled by early September you can then take over the design and print co-ordination rather than start the process then.
In the meantime we can all help you get to that point by getting the contributions in, shortlisted, polled and ready for you to take over. :) gazah Jun 25th, 2004, 12:22 AM no offense taken brad :)... i'd rather see a finished product then a bucket-load of unfinished ideas at year's end!
i'll keep an eye on the process as it develops & chip in when i'm available [& back on broadband! ;)] cityclinic Jun 25th, 2004, 08:16 AM .. .. .. .. i'll keep an eye on the process as it develops & chip in when i'm available [& back on broadband! ;)]
