I do have a scanner, but it's fairly cheap and doesn't do a good job :(

What happens if you have 35mm photographs??
A transparency would probably be the preferred medium. Not sure of the processes however whatever method gives Darryl the best quality to work with. Send what you have to the MINI Clubs office and we'll pass onto to Darryl. :)

So anybody out there in MINI land that has hign res pics of anything related to MINI send them or a link to Darryl: darryl@sheatherbros.com.

If you can't upload them to a website or email them to Darryl, burn them to a CD and mail to:
2005 Calendar
MINI Clubs
Level Four, York House
50 York Street
Sydney NSW 2000

Lets get in as many pics as we can. The more the merrier as they say. Gazah and Darryl will shortlist according to the final theme and quality and then we'll poll them on MINI2 to get the final 12. :)

my $0.02...

please don't send through a bucket-load of pics guys & gals, think about it & submit ONLY YOUR VERY BEST!
i would suggest a maximum of say 10-15 for really prolific photographers, & pick THE BEST single shot of a series of similiar photos!

although i love looking through people's photo galleries, please don't send a generic link to your online gallery... send a link to THE VERY BEST shot[s], in your opinion!

the submitted images can be a compressed version [or scan of a 35mm shot] but be sure you can back it up with either a high-res digital version or original negative for 35mm...
please note in your correspondence the highest quality image you can supply!

i think that if we adhere to these simply guidelines we should end up with a reasonable-sized collection of GREAT SHOTS to work from! :)

brad has suggested we create a series of desktop calendar images in various sizes for download... so look forward to that side of things also! :D

for thoroughness, please note that this calendar will be 'not for profit' & while the photographer will be credited for his/her shot they will not receive any $$$... they will however obviously maintain full copyright over the image!

i have amended these details to the thread's first post!

With transparencies, or whatever else we just need to see the photos at this point of time. (As long as you have the high resolution versions tucked away if digital).

So Swamos, most anything will do for the decision making process. We can drum scan the negs if their chosen.

ditto darryl, see my list of comments now in the thread's first post!

darryl...
i presume you're happy to have your email listed for submissions!?
anything else you'd add to my afore-mentioned comments?

sounds good to me.... (the costings might alter depending on the quality we decide we might aim for)

I'm ok with the email also, happy for you to steer the project.

Take the original, or the negative, to your local photo place and have them scan it, or get a duplicate print made and send that in ... it's not rocket science. :p

I know I don't belong here since I live in the US, but I have read through everything else and came upon this thread. I was wondering if I would be able to buy a calander. If not, that is ok. I think that is a great idea to do a MINI calander! Are you going to be printing the calander on an offset press or digital press?

kgouin: Offset I think???

Offset I assume... Darryl can you kindly shed some light on this??

For the quantity, I would say offset... but you never know, unless you are printing it.

Well at this point I've got one photo from someone so whether it gets off the ground or not I'm rather unsure

Unless you can get run lengths of at least 250 it would more than likely have to be digital to keep costs to a reasonable level. I'd quite like to see it litho with a spot uv over the photo on a good quality matt stock but....all this is quite academic at this point

Im sure we can drum up support!!

I'll get snapping once the sun comes out!! And a few of the mini boys come out to play when the clouds go away!!

Hmm, Darryl if this does go litho let me know if you reckon we can do a deal with a paper supplier between us. I have some pretty good contacts at Raleigh and Spicers that may be up for some action if we bandy their logo about a bit.

Michael, thanks for sharing those photographic studies with us. Some of them are excellent, taken by someone who has a good eye and a great love for his MINI.

I'm afraid that my family have tired of looking at my many many photos, but it is great for me to look at the MINI though 'new' eyes.

Well done.
