Ok peeps, following ethusiasm I've read in the general forum and sharing various pm's with others on here I'd thought I'd take the first move of trying to arrange a Derby meet.

So as not to clash with other meets in the midlands I thought that maybe the last thursday in every month would maybe be an easy day to remember.

Due to Euro 2004 and just generally the timing I suggest that maybe July 29th would maybe be a good starting point.

Plz post any suggestions here of any places/pubs or dates you feel would be a good for a meeting place. I have 2 pubs that come to mind, one being the Bonnie Prince just past Chellaston (on the A50 roundabout) which serves great food but gets rather busy due to being so popular and the other being The Jonty Farmer (Kedleston Rd - easy access A38) which also serves food and has good parking facilities

Depending on the interest generated, I will see if we could arrange a "MINI discount" at pub we decide on.

Only an idea in the making, Derby is long overdue a meet. Plz post all your thoughts here.

Update 7th July

Map of meeting point to follow. ( Jonty Farmer, Kedleston Road ) Thurs Aug 12th 7.30 pm

Interest is as followed.........

one suggestion from chris was that it was the third thursday so that derby and leicester meets wouldn't be so close together for peeps that want to attend both ;) although i wouldn't be able to make it in july if it was before the 29th b/c i'm in japan  :D

not sure of my way round the pubs in derby itself yet, but there are a couple in mackworth that look reasonable (and easy access- A38, A52) or the yew tree in ednaston is nice (and has a big car park) although that's a bit futher out of derby.

There are also a couple of pubs at Pride Park, which would be easily accessible to people and have masses of parking!!

Is it worth running a poll so that everyone can have there say on favoured dates and locations? I am more than happy to help out in any way I can in order to get this off the ground.

Keep the ideas coming!

how do you get to pride park? is it round the dreaded ring road? :p

as much as i'm really up for this :D i might have to miss the first one- got a very hectic time atm with A levels and then going away for 2 weeks as soon as school finishes...

i'll definitely be able to make it on a regular basis though :)

I don't live in Derby nor work in Derby but I have bought me MCS from Bridgegate Derby if that counts! I actually live in Mansfield and work in Notts. My new mini is due for Sept on the new plate. Can't wait!

I'm also of the view that Hooters is not such a good idea (Nottingham bunch are going there). Good for the lads I guess??

I hope what ever pubs you choose to go to they are easy to find. I always seem to get lost in Derby.

Just as a matter of interest... (carring on from the previous thread about the amount of minis in Derby). Whats the average mini count on your run to work each day? From Mansfield to Beeston I see an average of 5 minis vs 6 audi TTs, Porsches are too common to count!

Ped, there is a varsity in derby, reasonably easy to find and great food.

Hello,

I'm not yet a Mini owner but will be in 4 weeks - I have a convertibe on order.

Would love to come on a Mini meet - what's normally the plan?

I'm from Leicester too so I hope boys and girls from Leicester are invited!?

Seeing as many peps seem to get lost in Derby  I think it could be a good idea to meet at either of the two pubs next door to Bridgegate MINI - as they should know where that is :p

either:

The Master Locksmith on the small island next to the Cinema/Focus DIY and opposite the back of BMW

or continue through the lights behind BMW and up to the pub on the flyover (whats it called :o ... is it the Paddocks? )

i was there on saturday for a noisy round, as they sent me a letter i thought it would be nice to have a look.

i was there at about 3 oclock with the 'ball and chain'.

IMPORTANT:

as you all seem to be with bridgegate or 1 of its surrounding dealerships, who has got a letter about the Rockingham b'day party and concert? cause im definately going! truck racing in the day to watch and girls aloud, peter andre & the cheeky girls in the evening.... sounds like a winner for £12!

PS, im also up for a local meet, although as its already been said, the pub near bridgegate is a little dodgy..... the jonty farmer is nice tho (as was originally suggested), but im easy :D ... (work pomiting)

I was going to pop along to meet everyone on Saturday but I had no mini and I may of looked a bit weard in a Pug. We will pop along to the next meeting though! Jonty Farmer - nice name for a pub...if not a bit odd???

My order is with Bridgegate. Am I due a letter/ invite this 'Rockingham b'day party and concert' or is it just something fo the lucky few?

Sorry, it was persisting it down on Sat, had a sneaky peak on Sunday though.

eeeek! thats nasty... sorry 2 hear that.

as for the rockingham thing on the 4th.......

our guests will include customers from all seven of our dealerships, spread across the north, south and the midlands

think i only got a letter because of how shocked they were to see the pics of my MINI on bricks (and that ive just spent another £1800 on alloys with them!)

will be interested to hear who else is going

right then kiddies :D

if this is going to start in august we probably need to start trying to work out numbers and call the jonty farmer (if that's what we decided on, seems easy to get to?!) to sort out a regular (?) booking.

any takers? if we say second thursday of the month (so that we're not too close to leicester meets and don't disrupt weekends and big MINI runs ;) ) then that would take us to august 12th. the next week is exam results night, if i haven't had a heart attack before then i suppose i might be up for a night out ;)

if lots of people are away we might have to start in sept?

sooo... any takers?
