Thanks for the info. Nope, mine's not on there either. I'm going to search around for info about the K-Line ships and see if there's a way to find out if I'm booked over there, and if that's fruitless I'm going to call ASK.MINI. I'll keep you posted.

OK, I've emailed both WW (through the 'contact' link on their page) and NYK (through an email address in another thread) asking the whereabouts of the car associated with my VIN. :) I sure hope this ends up being a positive and not a negative.

Seems we're not the first to have this happen, and a couple have confirmed that their ships were sent with NYK, however I thought it was only to Port Hueneme that NYK was sending ships. I really hope we didn't somehow get bumped off the Patriot, only to wait even longer! :(

Hmmm.... hadn't thought of the fact that we could've been bumped to NYK line. I, like you, was under the impression that the problem (and the thread) applied only to Port H. people. BTW, I did call Ask Mini this a.m. and all the guy could tell me was that it was sitting at the dock. :rolleyes: I've also noted nothing new on the WW site. I'll keep watching here and in the other thread to see if you (or anyone else) has any info. I'll do the same for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us not to have to wait even longer! :(

Yeah, I sure hope it's not bad news, but no one seems to be able to tell me. I got a surly woman at ASK.MINI who made it clear there was nothing she could (or wanted to) do. However I would take your customer service agent's comment that it's "still at the dock" with a grain of salt, because all that means is that they have dropped it off at the dock. As far as I know they can't figure anything out past that.

speed_racer, good news!

Mine disapeared off of the WW site a couple of days after reaching the port and being assigned to the Freedom. Apparently, it has made it to SC on the Andes Highway, being dropped off on Saturday, but now the VDC delays begin. My motoring advisor told me that the car reached SC, but the VDC folks were on vacation last week, there are cupholder issues, front license plate bracket issues, rear bumper grommet issues, etc., etc., etc. I guess he's setting me up for the big wait until September delivery email. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't have set up this elaborate tracking system only to have all of these delays at the end.

This is from kfmuller in the "problems" thread. It sounds like there's a good chance we were bumped to a non-WW ship... I hope so!

I just called ASKMINI to make sure things were on track for week 34 and was told it is in the last phase of being "on order" and expect an October delivery! This is after two call where I was told it was a week 34 build (Aug 16th). What gives? :mad: :mad:

I just phoned my MA and he said his paperwork have week 34 (Aug 16th) with a mid-September delivery. The OL says still "on order", the ASKMINI automated line says scheduled for production with no firm date, and now she told me last stages of "on order". I hope she punched in the wrong production number. I'll phone again later and see what another person tells me. This is very frustrating indeed :confused:

It seems to me that MINI has gotten really disorganized and spotty with their tracking. I wish it wasn't so, it's very cool to be able to track a car that you must wait months for--
The OL always was a bit behind, but it seems worse now. WW has been as reliable as FedEx in the past, but now that they are using other cargo companies it's getting confusing.
I really wish MINI would get their act together and improve the tracking big time!! Live web cams I say :p :D

They may be referring to the fact that the last day of the week 34 build is 8/20, so worst case, you're done 8/20, go to dock & sit to be on boat, maybe load by 8/27, 4 weeks to CA so 9/24, go through VDC, get to dealer, so late Sept/early Oct delivery. Just my thoughts, hope it works out for you! :(

I ordered through Knaus in Chicago, so I think the shihp would dock on the east coast. I will phone again later and hopefully get a more informative response.

Yeah, orders in Chicago should go through SC. My friend ordered from Bill Jacobs in Naperville, and his is, as is mine, being ordered from Classic MINI in OH.

I called ASKMINI and managed to get the same non-helpful a*shole as earlier today. He was quite rude, even when I tried to just get him to tell me what lines Mini was using, and if they had indeed started using NYK for Charleston, too. :rolleyes: I think this must have been the same guy BartMack talked to about the same issue (posted in the WW problems thread). Note to all: if you get Toby at ASKMINI - hang up, he's useless and rude.

I did manage to find four ships on NYK that are leaving Southampton and heading to Charleston, SC - the Genoa departs on 8/9, the Faith departs on 8/10, the Sydney departs 8/17, and the Newark departs 8/17. There were no ships listed for 8/6-8/9. *sigh* I'll let you know if I hear anything. :rolleyes:

Hehe, well thanks for trying speed_racer. For some reason I have a feeling that we're on the Genoa. The timing is just about right for our VINs to have stopped showing up on WW. But that's just wishful/irrational thinking. Who knows. :) I do have emails into NYK and WW so I will definitely let you guys know the moment I hear anything from them.

Yeah, I get the sense with some of the agents that they feel like if they can just convince people to call less, they'll have to do less work... but it's kind of silly, because isn't that pretty much their entire job? hehe.. But yeah, I wouldn't be so worried about tracking the car as long as I knew at least where it was and where it was headed! It's a bit nerve-racking not to know a single thing about it though, so I hope NYK or WW can come through with some info for me.

Mine is now at the paint shop, about to get dry. Should make it on the 11th for the completion. :) Then, I will join you all on the vessel tracking business.

mike - still haven't heard from my MA. Tomorrow I will also try the very helpful ASKMINI rep I got when I was going through the anthracite mess. I still have his extension #, so I'll be sure and get him and not some useless clod. :D Hopefully he can actually tell me something! :rolleyes:

Whew....just called ASKMINI again (waited until I knew the person I spoke with this morning wouldn't be there) and this time she my car is confirmed for week 34 so it begins production a week from today. Maybe the other person entered the wrong production number :confused: Glad I didn't drink the hemlock before I called again :D :D

I feel for you guys waiting with no answer! Have you talked to your MA? There is TOTAL agreement with speed_racer, don't even talk to Toby at ASK MINI: he was rude and certainly not very helpful. I've talked to a Jennifer and a Greg and both were very congenial and helpful.

LOL, yeah, I know ASKMINI is open till 9 EDT. However, when I tried my favorite service rep, his voicemail said he was out today, and would return tomorrow. :D Sooooo, I'm waiting. Finally got an e-mail from my MA. Totally useless. All she could tell me was that she didn't show it as being shipped. <sigh> :(

nope, I haven't actually spoken to him yet. I kept getting voicemail, so I finally just left a message. He tries to call back in a timely fashion, but obviously soometimes it takes longer. :D I'll let you know if I hear back from him.

:dark: I ordered my car at the end of july and i have talk to the people at askmini and they have told me that i am a week 34 build and that my car should go into production on the 16th of august and should be done by the 20th of august the dealer told me that i would have a mid to late september delivery date, so it looks like everything is going smoothly. I am very excited and can't wait to get my mini.
